Annoys me that they are playing such hardball with us yet offering him more per year than us as a transfer fee

I saw they also signed another player for €5m or so. Yet they they play the ‘we can’t afford more because of covid’ rubbish with us.

I really hope we do sell him to their rivals

The record transfer for an Turkish club is £15m for Jardel.

Diagne is the 3rd most expensive at £11m. It gives you a feel for the finances  of the league.

The Championship has more money by comparative terms, albeit from teams aspiring to be in the Premier League and the cash that flows down from it.

It’s a shame to lose him for so little, however he seems set on going there; and there only.

It would be really nice to get him gone ASAP.  It’s like a bad smell you cannot get rid of.  Suspect the Turks want to drag this out and save month’s salary.  Ultimatum time Sir Rudders.

Why would we possibly play him?! Definitely going to get a long term injury so he can’t be sold isn’t he?

Turns up the heat on the Turkish teams doesn't it?

Maybe sends him a message as well that he's contracted to us and we won't be dicked about

...he looks very comfortable and happy in the pictures to me!!!

Would not be surprised if he isn't one of the well liked guys in the team.

Didn't Rodgers play Silva in a friendly or two a couple of years ago? I suppose if he's here we might as well use him at the moment.

Suspect if we really can't get in the wingers we are after then perhaps he may be retained after all.

I don't have any inside info on that by the way, just a thought that occurs.

I think you've got the negatives wrong again :)

I think he's likely to play cos we're going to be paying a formation that requires a winger. He's one, and he's still with us, so why not play him. I suspect he'll play a half and Sowah will then sub in. I don't think him playing has any suggestion to his retention.

Also playing him shows we’re not desperate to get him out, giving us more leverage.

I don't think anyone thinks Ghezzal is being considered as an option for next season. We are currently trying to squeeze 1-2 million extra out of a Turkish side. The only leverage is the two Turkish teams fearing he'll get injured before a deal is completed.

We did the same with maguire. started playing him in pre season as a message to MU that until they paid up he was still an LCFC player and as such would be included in any squads/teams we picked. there is an element of risk in his strategy to us though as well if the player does pick up an injury it is ourselves who end up paying the wages whilst they are on the treatment table.

The difference being that if ManU hadn't paid up, Maguire would have been in our starting 11. The truth was, we were reluctant sellers with Maguire. We are shifting deadwood with Ghezzal.

You do wonder though if Brendan looks at those stats and thinks... have we missed something. Maybe he wants a quick glance in case he is worth keeping after all. Not like we are getting much for him

I must admit I’ve wondered that myself

If we didn't know better, the transfer thread would be full of people pleading for us to "gerrrimin" after looking at his stats for the season he has just had, practically single handedly winning the Turkish league

Ghezzal's stats may be fairly modest , but he is a experienced player in top tier football. We have a mainly young set of attackers and sometimes in tough, close matches that experience can be telling.
