Clearly he has no future here, seemed strange to me to give him a game.  Risk of an injury that could scupper his transfer to another club , which wouldn`t have been good for him or for us.

There will always be good purchases and at times some that don’t quite work out.

He came recommended and even the current players say that Ghezzal is one of the most skilful players on the ball. He ripped apart the Turkish superlig, a league somewhere between 6th-10th best in Europe. He just doesn’t have the all round attributes to fit into the EPL.

So I’m not sure how he gets into your line up considering the players we had in those positions 2004-2008.

He didn't show anything today to suggest he's worth keeping, Llet's take the money and let him go. However I would love to know Brendan's reason for playing him today..

Were there options?

That said, he looked ordinary today.  He probably is finding fitness.  Soon, he will be fitter and ordinary.

Presumably Barnes, Albrighton and Perez were unavailable.  It was good to see young players playing.

Though I agree he doesn’t suit our plans, as such he should leave..

Im amused how you’ve used a pre season friendly, where 90% of our squad were poor. (As to be expected) as some evidence to back your point up.

I agree he doesn’t suit us, but do not agree s per your first post that he is the worst winger we have had since 2004.

A pre season friendly!. The guy has done nothing since he arrived. Brendon Roger's made his mind up about the player very quickly and sent him packing on loan at the earliest opportunity.

I’m not disagreeing 😂 what do you not get?

He does not suit the EPL or our current set up.

I disagree that we haven’t had worse RW since 2004 as you previously stated. Are you saying Ghezzal would not be better then the options circa 2004-2008?

Totally this. He clearly is a good player, look at how he has done at Besiktas. That does not mean he is a good player/suited to us.

While he's here, he's part of the squad. Rodgers doesn't seem the kind of manager to just cold shoulder a player because they're possibly leaving, so why not play him and see how he can help the team? Plus we only have Sowah available at the moment as a right winger, since Albrighton appears MIA. We needed two right wingers yesterday, so we played two right wingers - simple as that.

I'd expect him to be gone by the end of the week.

Haha no, you misunderstand me - I meant more that on the match day he could help the team, as we have no other wingers that can occupy that position.

Poorly phrased on my part.

Ah ok. In that case I just disagree with you! He’s neither use nor ornament at PL level, never will be.

...you could be right, I know there is a different level with the quality of Turkish Football League!!!

Much like the Scottish Prem. there are quality players who could make the leap to the English Premiership and looking at Ghezzal in that league he looks one of the best players in that league.

I want to see that Ghezzal in the Premiership with the same attitude he had last season. His recent performance yesterday was very much players going through the motions and playing within themselves. Very little to judge him on yesterday's game, no chance to impose himself on the game and as I have said before he is overawed by the personalities at this club and cannot be himself.

He is very much like a little boy on the pitch when playing for us, but an absolute predator when playing for Besiktas.

Any more Furkan News?  He can retain all of his July salary now, so off to Turkey he must go.
