Surely squad numbers are not fixed until after the window when the full squads have to be registered?

I don’t think so - squad numbers are usually set once released as fans are buying kits. 
 

I can understand United wanting ronaldo to have 7 and I can understand the premier league wanting it too for their own commercial reasons …

The thought did occur to me too. He was expecting a big windfall from Man City for Kane, but they refused to pay his inflated price

Anyone else a bit baffled about Liverpool in the transfer market in recent years? Barely spend any money given the size of the club and the commercial revenue they bring in, owners taking it for themselves?

I think there’s a bit of complacency but at the same time I’m hugely relieved. Because when you look at that team there’s only one spot that needs upgrading and youri could be that upgrade.

On talksport drive this evening Andy Goldstein and Goughie talked about top 6 level of a front 3. They now put Everton in that list now they have signed Demarai Gray. We were mentioned but didn’t make the cut 😂 

 

Just thought id post it if you wanted a laugh.

Only just seen that Brighton signed Abdallah Sima for £6 million pounds. Thought we would have been all over that. 
 

Strange that they have loaned him straight out to Stoke.

He's been pony apparently for Slavia in 2021. Other than the games vs us 😂😂

Can't wait til Ronaldo"s debut is over and done with. The Man Utd social media sdmins have been milking the Ronaldo signing for 10 straight days.

I think their time is coming to a bit of an end and maybe it already has. Said it a few weeks ago in another thread but they have routinely failed to capitalise whilst on top and that they're going to have problems with their squad. They haven't added enough. Most of their key players are at a bad age.

 

I think transfer window performance doesn't truly kick in for a good 2 or more years after it's taken place most of the time nowadays. It's only in hindsight we really appreciated how good a window 2018 was for us. I'm baffled at how little Liverpool did this window. Michael Edwards is off at the end of this season supposedly and I expect Klopp to probably follow not too long after, then they're left with a Glazer like ownership without some transfer whizz propping things up.
