If he’s a right sided attacker/attacking midfielder then this guy is a Perez replacement.

We’re simply not bothering with wingers from what I can see.

If Pereira isn't a winger than neither was Mahrez.  If you want to get bogged down in semantics fine, call him whatever you want.  In football 2021 terms, he's a winger.

Perhaps he's a wide player

Either way he naturally drifts inside alot. Takes charge of dead balls. Seems versatile too so if we lose Maddison to injury/whatever we've got abit of cover

Looks outstanding, but very much left footed. Don't think he shot with his right foot at all!

Which is fine because Harvey is very right footed.

I think this guy gives us much needed balance. Really hope we get him. Sadly doesn’t look more than tentative links

Really. He's scored some stunning goals with his left foot.

Last season scored against Palace, Fulham, Villa and Man U with cracking left foot strikes.

Personally feel Barnes is very good with both feet.

Of all the players we’ve been (tenuously) linked with, I think this guy excites me the most..

He’s got great skill and a bit of flair, can thread a pass and also chips in with goals too + has that year of experience in the Prem.

This seems the likeliest signing to ‘fill the Mahrez void’ IMO, rather than the likes of Berardi or Bailey - who I also think are great players, don’t get me wrong, but just think this guy would add more to the team and allow our full backs to bomb on still..

totally agree! I think this lad is the one we need and will be a excellent signing we haven’t got a player with this much skill who just get past players like this.

...why should he,....look at Robben, all left foot and an incredible player!!!

We are going to have someone on the right who makes all our problems go away because of the cover he would provide. I am not sure what it would take to prove that we have the ideal player in the right position at last.

It was just an observation and there are times where defenders will just push you onto your right foot. Mahrez learnt that and became adept at using his right foot more regularly to brilliant effect.

Appreciate it was just an observation (and you are absolutely right), but, this constant comparison of every winger or attacking midfielder we sign to Mahrez is a little unfair. Mahrez is still probably comfortably the technically best player I've ever seen in a Leicester shirt; certainly in his position.

I am really impressed with Pereira and think he would be brilliant here. I suppose all I am suggesting is he may need to develop his game so that he is not totally dependent on his left foot.

Harvey Barnes is certainly not one-footed , he beats players inside and out. Pretty sure soon enough he will be banging them in with his left foot. Pereira goes both ways as well. We don't have much use for long crosses from out wide owing to our limited threat in the air so attacking the box from the side is important ,Pereira is excellent at that.

He already does. 4 left footed goals last season.

Update from my Baggies supporting bestie.

‘He’s not a winger, not by any stretch. He can play wide right and wide left, and played wide right under Allardyce, but not as a winger, more drifting in,

He’s best as a 10 or second striker, where he ripped up the Championship. Great set piece taker and as good as I’ve seen at defence splitting passes.

He’s been brilliant for us and we wish him all the best.’

Dont know about the rest of you but I felt a tad deflated to hear that?

That's pretty much the view on the West Brom forum. they love him but only as a No10. He looked more of a replacement for Maddison rather than the solution to our RW problem.

He is like Harvey , who is not an out and out winger but a striker who prefers a widish left channel. However Barnes like Pereira is very capable on the touchline. Neither player falls into the pure wide man category like Mahrez and Albrighton but heh they are highly skilled potent attackers and that will do for me.

Barnes scored almost half his goals last season with his left foot.

At this point I don’t even care. He’s a left footed right winger. We need one. He’s decent. Get him in. Not the most exciting signing but hopefully he’ll surprise a few people.

Likely won’t happen, but you never know.

WBA fans don't think he's a winger? Surely they'd know. I'd like a winger, too, but I don't think I can just will Pereira into being a winger.

Let's ask them
