shailen Posted 15 May 2021 Posted 15 May 2021 Appreciate we're all still on cloud 9 from what's happened today and really over the last few seasons but at what point do we become an elite club? We've won the FA cup, got to the knockout stages in Europe and are in pole position to get champions league football, all in a season thats been disrupted by injuries and a global pandemic. When we won the league, virtually everything went in our favour, but we've shown with this group, we can find different ways to win, fight adversity and build a really solid foundation which I feel will mean we can remain at this level for a long time. I don't think we'll be seen as a stepping stone club for long and a place where elite players can come and join a team fighting for CL and the league. It's just crazy and exciting times indeed.

chuck'em Posted 15 May 2021 Posted 15 May 2021 Nah, we weren't invited to the super league so we must not have earned success 2
ARM1968 Posted 15 May 2021 Posted 15 May 2021 I think you have to be cvnts to be one of the elite - it’s one of their guiding principles. As we are not cvnts I don’t see how we can be one of them and I’m happy with that. 1
Popular Post Izzy Posted 15 May 2021 Popular Post Posted 15 May 2021 I don't want to be part of any elite. I love us just the way we are. 29 3
FoxOnWheels Posted 15 May 2021 Posted 15 May 2021 I feel like we are the family club version of the elite. We aren’t all commercial we feel close knitted and we appreciate our successes more as we have had our fair share of lows. Much rather that any day for me.
The Syrup Posted 15 May 2021 Posted 15 May 2021 The ESL only wanted mid-table rubbish like Arsenal and Spurs. 1
Popular Post Aus Fox Posted 15 May 2021 Popular Post Posted 15 May 2021 Only 5 clubs this Century have the English trifecta of Premier League, Fa Cup and League Cup. So looking at recent history the following clubs are elite in the sense of what they’ve actually got in the trophy cabinet. Only one of those clubs also have a League One and Championship title! Man Utd Man City Liverpool Chelsea Leicester. We are elite! 11
Popular Post Smudge Posted 15 May 2021 Popular Post Posted 15 May 2021 No we are not elite nor will we ever be. What we are is special, very special. There's a big difference. 5 3
when_you're_smiling Posted 15 May 2021 Posted 15 May 2021 (edited) Who gives a ****? Let’s just be Leicester. Edited 15 May 2021 by when_you're_smiling 1
Gary Eatfood Posted 15 May 2021 Posted 15 May 2021 No, I don't think we are. We're better than the elites. We're a phenomenon. We're pioneers with a sustainable model that breeds success and shows less wealthy clubs the way forward. 1
Webbo Posted 15 May 2021 Posted 15 May 2021 I'll tell you what we are, fcking awesome, that's what. 1
foxes_rule1978 Posted 15 May 2021 Posted 15 May 2021 (edited) If Spurs win nothing and are elite then Im santa clause. Depends where your elite bar is because ours is above Spurs Edited 15 May 2021 by foxes_rule1978
King of Gipsy Lane Posted 15 May 2021 Posted 15 May 2021 Not with the KP elite clubs play in Elite stadiums that is the last piece of the jigsaw our kings of the East Midlands title and global appeal are driving our support to higher levels but reality is we need a better stadium to show our place at the top has been secure
1994fox Posted 15 May 2021 Posted 15 May 2021 I get the question. But I hope we never forget where we came from. We are the people’s champions, the underdogs, Leicester. I feel like the moment we start proclaiming to be one of the elites we lose a bit of what it means to be Leicester. 1
hejammy Posted 16 May 2021 Posted 16 May 2021 We're Leicester City. A family. Not elite, just a pure football club for the fans run incredibly well! Ps.... I couldn't give 2 craps about being classed as an "elite" club. Hate that elitism BS
Scotch Posted 16 May 2021 Posted 16 May 2021 No and I don't want to be. We are a well run club with decent owners who respect our identity and we are starting to see the result of hard work and good investment. Done right. We are were we are because we deserve to be here. Not because we bought our way here. We won't take for granted that we are here either and recognise that it might not always be the case. We are nothing like the elite and I wouldn't have it any other way. We are a club with a soul.
moseeds Posted 16 May 2021 Posted 16 May 2021 No, because most of the world will never be able to pronounce Leicester.
Hack Posted 16 May 2021 Posted 16 May 2021 Elite meaning considered like a press top 6? Maybe not. But I do think we are the model for all clubs to follow. The way our owners act the way our back office staff perform especially recruitment. The way the the club is managed by the coaching staff and if course how our players play the game. Not being a team from one of the larger cities without the funds that come with that of bigger stadiums etc makes what we are doing even more astounding. With the right people any club could do what we are doing. We are just so lucky we have the right people in the right places at the same time that makes this team what it is. We are not an elite team. Just the team that every club should emulate.
