Give me that front 4 of

 --------Kane

Grealish Mount Foden

Rashford, Sterling and Sancho as options off the bench against tiring defenders. Beautiful

It's what I'd like but there's no player to stretch the pitch behind the defence - that front 4 would be lovely with Barnes esque winger on one of the wings.

I think Grealish has that in his game to be fair. I dont know many more powerful runners in the game than him. Especially with the ball. Those giant thigh sized calf muscles propell him forward haha

If we need to stretch a defence late on we can bring in the ridiculous pace

Is Saka in the squad or was he dropped? Another one that's had a fine season and have pace to burn

Not sure we can play Bellingham as the more forward thinking deep midfielder alongside Rice just yet.

Phillips is the best passer from deep and his off the ball work is great.

                  Kane

Grealish   Foden  Sancho

         Phillips Rice

Shaw   Stones  White  James

               Pickford

Not too sure on the fitness of some of those but that’s how I’d go into the Croatia game. Bellingham on for Phillips if we need more dynamism.

Pretty solid team although I if GS is smart, he will go with walker or even Godfrey at RB against Scotland.

Is he not? I thought he played the other night. My mistake.

Point being, I reckon Southgate could/should go with a defensive minded RB against Scotland.

It would be fine if Kane didn't **** about in midfield half the time. Lack of pace could be a problem but only if we sit back and defend. Control the ball and the game and lack of pace won't matter. Maybe add pace from full back with Walker and Chilwell. But that does leave the shit defence a bit exposed lol

I like this XI a lot but cannot see him leaving Mount out.

That would be lethal imo. Mount and Foden given freedom to give and go, both acting as number 10s. Play Rice as the holding mid. Depending on the opposition Chilwell for Shaw or James for Trent.

So hope I’m wrong but again, I can’t make out why England are joint favourites for the tournament? Looking at the Italians with the likes of Immobile up front, the Germans with Werner, Muller, Gnabry, the Belgians with Tielemans, Lukaku et al. France with Mbappe... the list goes on...

Our central midfield to me looks piss weak imo. Apart from Grealish, there’s such little flair.

And we know there’s always an error in Stones and Pickford

It’s gonna be interesting, no doubt.

It's just bookies covering their backs, with each tournament that rolls round every man and his dog seems to pop a little on England for some reason. It'd be stranger if they weren't odds-on with the bookies.

Yeah he played but wasn’t included in final 26.

Love what Foden has done with his Barnet as a nod to Gazza ‘96. Good lad.

England has the most gamblers and invariably I think this means England will always be slightly shorter than they should be in reality.

I agree with France being favourites. England I think have a lot of individual quality but there are weaknesses still, including the manager.

Dark horse for me is Italy. think their squad is a lot better than people think.

I think Southgate will sacrifice one of the above for Henderson sadly.

I also don’t see the obsession with Pickford. He’s like Mings - he’s guaranteed to **** up at least once a game.

He can play out from the back and that's why he gets favoured believe it or not.

Cat 3 tickets all the way to quarters should England get there. Semi final and final are "fans first". Really think we can achieve something in this tournament but our defence will be our week point.

Interesting tickets though... level 1 for Croatia game then level 5(top tier) for both Scotland and Czech Republic. Czech Republic were down the side which is pushing CAT2/3. I'd be interested to know how uefa have decided what category is what/what area... considering CAT 3 is supposed to be directly behind the goal 🤔

I mean that would be absolutely devastating on paper but you just know he'd never pick that.

This is my team except I'd probably pick one of Foden or Grealish (don't mind which), and then have Sterling starting. Even though he hasn't been in great form, i think the team will be better for having some pace in behind, and Sterling is better at stretching the game than Sancho or Rashford, and i don't think Rice as a single DM is good enough to protect a shaky back 4.

Then Foden/Grealish + Sancho first off the bench to change it up if need be.

I think what we all miss is that we are all too gung ho!!!  Having said that most of the choices are on the right lines.

Please somebody tell me differently but this is how I see it:

Southgate took over fortuitously from Big Sam, got a bit of space because England needed some calmness.  Got a decent run in the world cup, though having scored first should have beaten Croatia and would have gone out earlier without Kane's penalties.

Continues on a massive wedge, and of course that means there is a lot at stake for him, so as ALL England managers probably since Robson in 1990, where rumour has it the players picked 5 at the back at the end of the group, we go really CONSERVATIVE, fear of LOSING rather than WINNING!!

Same this time, FACT, we're crap at the back with a headless goalie.  So stack the team, use the great attacking players we have (and we do) and once we get to the KO's - GO FOR IT!!!!  Anyway its probably Germany, France or Portugal in the L16, lets not lose 1-0 through a defensive mistake.

@AKCJ's team looks fine.  But Cresswell was great in ECL Final, and if Foden and Grealish don't work, hopefully Sterling and Rashford will be chomping at the bit with something to prove.  We were brilliant against Spain in Seville a couple of years back, I want that performance and attitude back, and Gareth show some emotion again mate!!!  Get the "Westcot" back out fella!  Lets score goals and attack and make at least the last 4!!

That was the lineup from the game we lost in the Semi's against Croatia,  how many of them are going to be starting this time out? I'd say 6 at best
