Tbh i think that goal came from a foul wrongly given. Harsh on Scotland but naive defending!

Feel bad for the Scots

No worries, they will now all swing behind England.

Especially whilst our commentators repeatedly refer to 1966, talk about "the whole country" being behind "our boys" and talk about routes to the final 10 minutes into a goalless last 16 game.

If you are in contact with any Scots, I would suggest that you show them this picture of Jimmy Hill.

They ruddy well love him up here

No doubt the coverage will be all over Scotland's brave display...  face it the tournament was over before it started for them, they looked hopeless never mind this over the top patronising. We won't see them for never 23 years now... we hope lol

We're gonna need to be a more of a threat in our last 16 game, whoever we play. It's been far too safe so far. Pundits saying controlled but I'd say we've been cagey, defensive and safe. 3 clean sheets against Czech, Scots and Croatia is nothing extraordinary imo.

Scotland have to be the biggest underachievers in international football history when you consider the popularity and history of the game there, the players they've produced, and the relative wealth and facilities in the country.

They've only got a population of like 5 mill tbf and I think the quality of their national league hurts their chances to even if our players aren't always the best in the world they play in really competitive leagues from top to bottom especially the top 2.

They've never got past the group stages of a competition. That's pretty staggering when you think of the part the country played in starting the game and the players and managers they've had.

Hadn't realised Scotland had such a poor record. Compare that to similar sized or smaller countries like Croatia, Iceland, Denmark, Ireland, Wales, Costa Rica, Norway who've all progressed in fewer attempts.

It is fascinating that Scotland really look naff in every tournament, with the support the sport has and the quality of some of the players.

I'd put it down to the quality of the league - which is quite poor - and the fact they've so many teams. England has a lot of teams, no doubt, but it's got a well structured league with opportunities at every level.

Scotland has a dozen teams in top flight, most of whom would struggle in our second tier.

Northern Ireland too, they've got out the groups. Iceland has a population not much bigger than Leicestershire and they've managed it. Uruguay has a smaller population and they've reached the latter stages a few times even if you ignore them winning it way back. Really poor on a whole from Scotland that they have never once managed to progress.
