Our best chance to win the competition is for Southgate to rotate heavily and stumble across a winning formula !

like robson did in ‘86 …..or was it ‘90 ……

Italia 90, although if you look back he stumbled across it vs Holland and then immediately went back to 4-4-2 vs Egypt and we were crap again. Rode our luck massively vs Belgium and Cameroon before being absolutely scintillating vs the Germans and harshly bowing out.

It's all aload of bollocks, much like most of these other nonsense rules.

Echoing what's been said, these players will now miss a potential career defining game and a potential career defining moment in the game, ridiculous.

There's an outside chance it's Gilmour's last ever chance at a Scotland game in a tournament. Not even taking the piss either. It probably won't be, but it could be.

Certainly Scotland's biggest game of his lifetime anyway. Well, other than England v Croatia.

Shake it up tonight please Gareth.

Saka, Grealish, Sancho, Bellingham and Rashford in please.

Remember Russia, where Kane's goals dried up and Dele Alli was playing on one leg, and still Southgate persisted with them both, ignoring better, fresher options on the bench?

He seems a bit set in his ways.

We are a team that has France like ambitions with a Poland like outlook to team selection. The teams that genuinely think they can win it aren't scared to leave the "star" out if he's playing really badly or has a knock, a country like Poland would be shitting it when Lewendowski picks up a knock. We think we're up there with the France and Belgiums and we might have to player to compete, but we have to attitude of a team just happy to sneak through to the last 16.

I agree and you only need to look at the Italians to see this. When they won again the other night they were absolutely overjoyed. They didn’t have to win the game, they just WANTED to win it.

I often talk about the importance of momentum in football and referenced this to how we again failed to make the CL at the end of last season. Liverpool and Chelsea had the momentum to see it through to the end.
England don’t seem to have neither the enjoyment of playing nor the belief that is instilled into the Italians currently.
This needs to change or we will crash out of the tournament

They also aren't scared to use the squad. They trust everyone of the 26, and confident in the way they play. They obviously have a rough idea of a first 11, but they are confident that anyone of that 26 man squad can come in and do a good job. We obviously don't feel that way, as a coaching team or as fans. We are literally shitting ourselves at the prospect of half this squad being used. I don't know if some of that is down to Southgate being stubborn or being scared of criticism. Losing with Kane on the team for example means he's done all he can by playing his best player, lose without Kane and he knows he's getting stick for leaving him out. After the Scotland game the ITV reporter asked Southgate why he brought Kane off, rather than ask him why he left him on so long. The media want the stars to play no matter what, and it'll be our downfall.

Southgate has already said Kane is starting. Might do him good, pressure off and needs a goal.

But on the other hand, if he doesn't score a goal in a game where there's no pressure to score a goal, then the pressure's really on.

Definitely more to it than just Mount and Chillwell being around Gilmour on the pitch afterwards.

Apparently they had a long chat in the tunnel too..

I bet Reece James feels a bit left out of this Chelsea get together !

Sounds like Henderson will play .

There's definitely more like this, or just extreme caution. In which case, doesn't explain Scotland.

Reason they're training in Middlesbrough, is the entire squad would need to isolate if this had happened in Scotland
