Job Interview Response: I'm a bit of a perfectionist and I can throw myself into my work a bit too deeply sometimes.

Actual response: I'm a mostly lazy shitebag who, increasingly disillusioned with late stage Capitalism, may attempt to bring my employer down from the inside.  If I could be arsed.

Never related to anything so strongly in my life :o

Self-doubt and overthinking.

Worrying what other people think too much about certain things, more to do with my partner, children or family than me weirdly. I don't really care if I look a twat but I get overly embarrassed on other peoples behalf weirdly.

My almost obsessive need to have a routine. I do the same things at the same time most days and when something comes along that disrupts it, I get pretty anxious. It's so annoying and gets in the way of so many things.

I really struggle to feel empathy, so I have to pretend sometimes in social situations, for fear of sounding like a nasty bastard.

I have this sometimes too.

Another thing that is annoying is I'm massively introverted. If I have a day of lots of interaction I am physically drained.

I also really struggle with eye contact when in conversation with someone. It just freaks me out.

Mentioned it to someone at work and they asked if I was autistic. Would make a lot of sense actually.

This is exactly the same as me.

When working from home last year I kind of flourished a little bit doing most communication behind the computer.

The downside to being like this is I know that often I am a better/harder worker than some people I work with but because they are more noticeable in the office, they are often seen as 'better' at their job when it's not always the case. It's definitely held me back a few times in my career when my actual work has merited more recognition.

Me too. Also been asked at work if I'm autistic.

A lot of things can have similar features to autism though. Depression and trauma, for instance. Or lack of socialisation in the family growing up. I did have some sessions with a therapist to assess for autism, and we decided it's more likely due to other issues.

It's something I've thought about for a while to be fair. I've just done on an online indicative test. I think I need to book myself in!

I'm essentially too lazy to have a meaningful existence, I simply cannot be arsed with any of it.

I'm going to steal your response. That's very much me.

My #2 answer would be that I don't have any original thoughts.

Worth thinking about what it would mean to pursue a diagnosis as a adult. Would a diagnosis help with adjustments at work, would it help you frame and understand your difficulties in your own head? Are there insurance implications? Some people find it hard to cope with a diagnosis, I know after my therapist agreed that autism was a strong possibility and suggested further investigation, it magnified my isolating behaviours and I felt worse.

I'll make this my last post as don't want to take over what is essentially a good, light hearted thread but yeah I think it would help massively.

I've always felt I was slightly different, always the one not laughing at something everyone else finds hilarious. I've noticed more and more recently that when I talk to people I over compensate. I'm not actually interested in a lot of what I ask people etc, not that I don't want to be - its just that I find it awkward to make conversation. I've realised a lot of what I do is just imitating how everyone else is to try and feel 'normal.

We did these big personality days in the office with some company a couple of years ago, you had to answer so many questions and depending on how you answered you ended up at certain points at different areas in the room. Typically I ended up on my own at the complete opposite end of the room to everyone else.

Anyway, back to the thread 🤣

Yes, getting back on topic (as my introversion doesn't bother me at all)..

I have an annoying habit of staying up until silly o'clock every night looking at things on the internet.. one more click, one more page etc, and the next thing you know it's 3 am. Then the next day I always struggle to wake up for work despite multiple alarms and I'm not fully alert until late morning. And I look back at what I was reading the previous night and I have no idea why I ever found it interesting. Yet I still do it to myself every day.

I'm never wrong .. Like seriously, i am never wrong..

On a serious note, i can be very snappy and really judgey (if thats a word) over the silliest of things.

I'm never wrong and can be pretty snappy too, maybe it's a woman thing  I also get really annoyed at the silliest things that seem really important at the time, but they're not at all. It's such a waste of time and emotion.
