I can't wait until the article that says Arsenal have ended their interest. Love to see how all their fans talk there way out of that one!

Mirror ran this earlier

He played like a man possessed against Spurs and it was his best performance in a long time (even before his injury).

Even though we collapsed, he impressed me. If he keeps that up, we'll have a very good season and he'll get that big move he wants (if he were to leave, he could do better than Arsenal).

I really hope this is the turning point for him. He's not a pr*ck, just a bit naive.

I think Maddison needs to get his head down this season. We saw that dressing room unrest can affect performance in the West Ham game. Any whiff of more stuff like that he needs to be moved on. I like him, but you have to have everyone pulling in the same direction. There’s too much noise surrounding Maddison. Being so flash doesn’t help for some reason even if it might not affect performance.

Well if the dozen or so people on here who seem to have taken against him would shut up that’d stop most of the ‘noise.’

Wearing a red and white shirt to training is the sort of thing Vardy would do and everyone would know he's taking the p1ss. Don't see it as anything different 'cos Maddison has done it. Just light hearted banter to get a laugh with the lads.

Not now, but during the Filbert street days of averaging 10-12,000

I was always baffled that anyone would wear red . Seems really petty now 😂

Actually lost me there, what did I say about Madders or Arsenal? lol Might as well go on record with how I feel about us and them at this point in time...

Our competitors for a top 6 place are Spurs and - if they perform to the levels they did at times last season - West Ham, Leeds and Villa. Arsenal genuinely don't concern me. They're mid-table fodder at this point with no signs of improving their squad or performances as a team - they could honestly struggle to finish in the top 10, let alone challenge for the UCL places, given how much stronger the raft of teams around them now look. If we finish below them next season we've failed in our objectives as far as I'm concerned, and even if Maddison did jump ship (spoiler - he won't) we're a better team than them.

As others have alluded to, Maddison would be weirdly suited to their style these days - occasional technical brilliance but chronically lightweight and seemingly more interested in doing their hair than putting a shift in. The days of Keown, Bergkamp, Adams, Cole, Campbell etc. when Arsenal were respected as a tough team up for a scrap are long-gone.

That's not to say I don't like Maddison - far from it. I think he still has a lot to offer us, and there are few others I'd rather the ball fell to 30 or so yards out. But as mentioned by others, he needs to knuckle down and prove he's a star - the injury took its toll, but we saw sparks against Spurs in the last game that we've got the "old" James Maddison back - now he just needs to apply himself and be our main man behind Vards / Kelechi / Daka. We have a player in Ndidi capable of doing the dirty work that frees up "luxury" players like him further up the field, and Tielemans (who I think is the only one we're really at risk of losing, and even then unlikely to) always puts a shift in too. Factor in Soumare, assuming he hits the ground running, and our system is made for an in-form Madders.

The subject / verb agreement you contended didn't happen. I said it was happening on here and that I'd tag you as and when it came up!

Madders is going to have a blinder this season mark my words.

Barnes KDH and Madders will be electric. I reckon Daka will tear it up too.

Just hand us the title now Pep.

Haha I was talking about the Americanisation of football being rooted in language shift. A big one being referring to 'CLUBNAME is' as opposed to 'CLUBNAME are'. You contended that you don't see or hear that and I said it was happening even here!

I see (according to Sky Sports anyway) that Smith-Rowe is the new Arsenal no.10 so that's that then.

Thank god for that ,so speculation over and now Madders can have a blinder of a season with the foxes

Er, no.

I’ll try to explain. It was in response to a post saying there’s ‘too much noise’ about Maddison, and I was suggesting that most of that ‘noise’ is coming from a few people on here. I was also implying that what ‘noise’ there is is based on nothing substantial.

So not ‘stop complaining and if you do, that means no one has anything to complain about.’

More ‘there’s actually nothing to complain about so why the incessant complaining?’

If people want to moan about Maddison’s corners being rubbish - fine.

If people want to laugh at his transparent backpack - fine.

If people want to tut-tut at young people today and their social media - fine.

If people want to endlessly recycle half-baked (at best), sometimes sordid personal nonsense based on pretty much nothing - not fine. For me at least it’s getting beyond tedious.

I think all the speculation about Jimmy can now be put to bed. Man City, Man. Utd , Chelsea don't need him, Arsenal don't want him , Liverpool?  never in a million years. So its Tottenham or us. Looks like he will be with us until he's 35.
