Any rumour that mentions players in part exchange is bollocks. It never happens.

I think in normal circumstances, you are both absolutely correct but with th financial climate that this pandemic has caused, we could very well see clubs taking different approaches to complete their transfer business.

Wouldnt entertain any player swap unless it is for Saka or EMR which obviously wont happen. Not keen on strengthening a rival at all so dont help them by taking deadwood.

Selling Maddison to Arsenal would undoubtedly be strengthening a rival but arguably, them giving us something like 70m would strengthen us more. Spending that £70m on Berardi, Pereira and Tarkowski would make us a FAR stronger team than we are now.

It's never going to be a player we actually want or who really improves us.

They want Maddison and to shove an unwanted squad player out in the process.

I would only entertain this if Saka was part of the deal.

Maddison to some may only be luxury, but statistically he isn’t, and losing him would leave us in a very bad place in an attacking sense.

Mad to suggest Saka? Yes, but that’s the level of attacking quality we would need to replace Maddison regardless of what people think.

Hopefully it’s bollocks, but I’d be very unimpressed if we were considering selling a key player so late in the window, and I think it would confirm to some degree Brendan wants Coutinho. Like o said previously it’s the only way I can see Maddison leaving, but that position isn’t a priority.

I know twitter is a petri dish for unsubstantiated BS, but the amount of Arsenal fans on there who are absolutely convinced we'd take one of their unwanted squad players as part-exchange for Maddison is truly astonishing. The stupidity and self-delusion takes your breath away.

Only way Rodgers would or should want to sell Madders is if he wants to convert to a 4 3 3 and needs the funds to bring in a Berardi standard right winger/forward + a back up and defender.

This. Which unwanted squad member of a team that we've finished above 2 seasons in a row improves our first XI?

I honestly think I would take it if they offered 60m for him. As good as he is on his day he's had a few injury problems and never looked back to his best when returning from those injuries. With our midfield options we should be looking at going 4-3-3 and that 60m could get us a top RW and a CB. On balance I think its a good move for all involved.

You can imagine the conversation:

Arsenal: How much for Maddison?
Leicester: £80m

Arsenal: We can't do that I'm afraid. How about £50m plus one of our fringe players who'd struggle to make your matchday squad, let alone your first 11?
Leicester: Erm....

Bit soon to be writing him off. £60m is too cheap. He is 24 and got a load of talent. 1 good season away from being worth £80m IMO

More importantly though, he is a game changer and one that could benefit us hugely over the next season or two.

I disagree, we will lose a lot in terms of creative passive. We would have to secure a Lee agreement transfer with someone like Berardi prior to selling him. No chance we can let him go and then make a move.

Like I said, I’m convinced that if the club let him go, they will go for Coutinho.

40/50 million plus Willock would be a cracking transfer. He’s definitely capable of playing right-mid, and could provide a narrower option to set-up play in the box after a Justin/Ricky P/Castagne run down the byline.

if only it was that easy. :D

Hi Sassuolo, we'll accept your €45m value of Berardi and we'll give you Perez (€18m), Praet (€20m) and Choudhry (€12m), so you owe us €5m thank you very much.

Arsenal are like a 16 year old trying to order a beer at a pub, they know they don’t stand a chance, and they’re not at the same level as the other beer drinkers around them, yet there they are staring at the ground mumbling their order under their breath trying to sound legitimate.

You’re not fooling anyone lads, dinosaurs roamed the planet the last time you were significant….. go away.

Not necessarily, look at Chelsea with Lukaku.

Meh, I get what @Ricey is saying. If you're sad like me and look at the "Paper reports" on like the BBC loads of tabloids always go on about swap/player+cash deals. Incredibly rare it ever happens due to complexity and mostly is total bollocks.

Papers love it to make it sound like a juicy story.
