From all what he's done over summer and being involved in so much stuff regarding the clubs social media i think he has a point to prove. He seems hungry.

Agree and his success will be to the benefit of our club and himself both financially and on the field.

It doesnt, as if we got 70m for Maddison all 3 of their clubs would bump their prices up.

Probably true for Berardi, but not so sure with Tarkowski and Pereira.  I think the latter two are in a strong position and could force the issue.  Tarkowski goes for nothing next year so Burnley are in a very weak position. Pereira looks like he may cause trouble for WBA if they stall on his exit.

But what do I know ...

Hmmm. He's decent value at £60m. We should only sell if they offer beyond what he's worth to us. £70m plus and I'd be happy. Otherwise I'd rather not strengthen a team only slightly weaker than us.

Artetas problem since being at Arsenal is that he has had no stand out playmakers and they are desperate for one. Give them Maddison and we'd be shooting ourselves in the foot.

Reddit's already decided he's sold, so I would be fairly confident in saying he's staying. lol

Most of them are sat in a circle sharing swimmers while convincing each other that the WUM who broke this story is an ITK with deep links to the club.

I wonder if Gooners go out to McDonalds and spend their whole meal doing mental gymnastics to paint the lad flipping burgers as a Michelin-Starred chef?

Jokes aside, I know we're now set in the forward position, but if they offered us £45 million and Willock I think I'd take it when you consider A) Vards isn't getting any younger and B) Newcastle have already had a £20 million bid shot down. The other two names bandied about (Nketiah and Nelson) are both not good enough for the Premier League, let alone us, in my opinion.

I’ve puked in more than that and probably pissed in them all, sometimes simultaneously, ( this is not recommended, it gets a bit difficult to explain without effective power of speech).

Why do I feel like we are going to end up with Calum Chambers and £60m?

Because your pessimism boarders on realism where as mine simply morphs into expressionism.

At this rate they're just gonna cycle through their entire bang-average squad and we're gonna just say "nah, nah, nah... maybe... actually, nah... nah, nah... nah" until deadline day passes and Madders spanks one top corner before him and Vardy both put on magic hats to celebrate.

I am starting to really get sick and tired of all this shit  even leicester mercury live are not dropping the story even though the club as come out and said we don't need to sell.****ing arsenal what a shite team with a shite manager and if maddison wants to go then he has no ambition because they are going nowhere with that **** in charge.if I was leicester accept no more than 70 million and don't go for a player exchange because they are not worthy of a place in a leicester shirt apart from sako

It's actually pretty bonkers that we are at a level where there isn't any non essential players at Arsenal who would interest us...

Can't wait to see all the Arsenal fans cry on Twitter when this doesn't go anywhere

Not sure why we would accept any cash + player deals. Majority of their squad are absolutely honking, especially in the only 2 positions we need.

I've not read much of this thread as I expect this one to end the same way as the Vardy and Mahrez transfers to Arsenal.

However, do we know if Norwich had a sell-on clause inserted in his contract?

Sorry, answer posted above as I typed.

I said previously that I’m not sure how Maddison fits into our system next season. If he stays, then I think he’ll spend a significant time on our bench.

I think we’ll happily accept a bid of 70m+. With that kind of money with could purchase a CB/RW and maybe a AMC on loan.

True, but the malaise at that club dates back a long time given their previous stature. Last time they did anything of note in the league was the year they came second to us (them pipping Spurs being the only thing I have any hint of a soft spot for - that was a fun St. Totteringham's Day!)

Again, I don't want to denigrate the prestige of the FA Cup given how much it means to us to have finally won it, but for Arsenal a few triumphs in it in the past couple of years have papered over some massive cracks in their ability and overall level of personnel. It's a similar story to how Spurs started to regress from 2018's failed transfer window onwards, with the Champions League final distracting from the obvious malaise sneaking into their setup. At least Arsenal have had some silverware to show for it which has somewhat silenced the (perfectly valid) complaints from their fanbase.

Saka and maybe Willock after last season are the only two in that squad I think are worth entertaining. Nobody else improves us at present, not even Aubameyang now he's seemingly regressed from his peak a few years back.

That is a good point, the internet has dramatically changed the fanbase of major clubs.I would say that 50 years ago 95% of gunners fans lived in N.London. How many of our fans know Leicester . I have walked down half the streets in the city and I know most of its history. The football club is an extension of the city and its people. You never really understand that from a distance. I welcome the massive increase in our support of course but I will always respect the opinions of real Leicester people above others.

When I used to come up for games between the early 80's up until Vichai took over, many Leicester people didn't give a shit about the football team.

Many of the supporters that did go to Filbo and the KP could never understand why someone from outside the City would watch them, when so many from the city did 'other things' on a Saturday afternoons.

Ok, I’m going to out myself as one of the few people who thinks we should sell him.

We don’t have a bottomless pit of cash to

improve the squad and continue to progress. Our entire model as a club is built on selling players who are worth more to other clubs than they are to us. Maguire, Chilwell and Drinkwater are the poster boys in that regard. That doesn’t mean they’re bad players, it just means that we can do better for the money.

Maddison falls into that category. He’s invariably brilliant for a 6 week spell every season, decent for another 6 weeks and then somebody we’re painfully wishing back into form for at least half of the season. Arsenal are desperate right now, their fans were mutinous after the ESL business and it seems the Kroenkes have finally decided to throw serious money at the problem.

His goals and assists output is decent but no more than that for a top half number 10 on all set pieces (until recently) who doesn’t contribute greatly outside of those metrics. I’ve seen the stat about “most chances created” but a ton of those must have been chipped crosses onto Maguire and Evans’ heads because he’s nowhere near the top of the charts for expected assists since he’s been with us. The quality of those chances is evidently not great.

In Soumare, Tielemans and Ndidi we have the making of a truly top class midfield trio without the need for a traditional number 10. Soumare is still a bit of an unknown quantity in this set up but in the case of Tielemans and Ndidi losing them would be absolutely catastrophic to our style of play and efforts to build a team. These are players that are worth more to us than they are to other clubs and must not be sold if we can possibly avoid it.

Can we really say the same for Maddison? Is he really a player whose value to us is higher than it is to Arsenal or Spurs? Realistically that’s our market to sell him - he’s not good enough to play regularly for Chelsea (as I’ve said before he’d be at best 4th choice in one of the two positions behind the striker), Manchester United (nowhere near Fernandes), Man City or Liverpool (don’t play with a number 10). Arsenal are a “special purchaser”. They’re desperate but realistically one of only two options available to Maddison if he wants to go and earn more money and/or have a different life experience.

If we could get £60m for him I am very confident we could improve the squad to the extent that he would not be missed. That could fund a new winger and a more forward-minded central midfielder than the Tielemans/Ndidi/Soumare triumvirate.

Selling good players does not mean that we don’t value them. It means that the value another club has for them is greater than ours. At 24 and with 3 years left on his contract, Maddison’s value may never be higher. Could we miss him next season? Of course. But I trust that armed with £60m we could find a way to make both the starting XI and squad stronger than it is currently.
