Sunbury Fox Posted 3 August 2021 Posted 3 August 2021 (edited) Irrespective of whether it's a good financial deal we get, I just wouldn't want to sell to Arsenal at this time. Just seems a sign of weakness to sell a player to them in the state that they're in currently. Hardly any of their first team would get into our first XI so why would we want reserves from them? Would have been 98 or 99, Matt elliot presented the medals/trophy. Was incredible. i had a similar thing at High School. We beat Winstanley in the County Cup Final. Can't remember the year... must have been 96 i think....

If we can end up with a stronger team from the sale proceeds, then that's all that counts. Hoping it's down to BR really. He'll know whether we will be stronger with a couple of signings and Maddison going to Arsenal. I'm happy to trust his judgement, and won't be too peeved if the sale goes ahead as Maddison can often go missing. I would be alarmed if Fofana or Tielemans were to suddenly go, but that would be regardless of which team bought them.

We have 2 playmakers with him and Tielemans and can't afford to drop one. I only see 2 possibilities if he were sold for £70m. 1) Funds would buy Berardi and Tarkowski and you could utilise perez as a number 10. 2) funds would buy Berardi and Tarkowski and a replacement buy for maddison. @Ric Flair Within your massive library of players is there anyone on the market right now, young or mature that could be bought for roughly £30mil to fill maddison's role? We also need to shift on some players I.e. Choudhury/mendy etc with more income available after. I loathe to do this as a) I don't think we want to or should sell him and b) I don't think he wants to go either. Therefore in light of what Rodgers has recently said, this could be disastrous for us to move him on for any reason. You just know it would be Coutinho on a season long loan and it could be glorious or hideous. The one I'd go for most is Marcel Sabitzer from Leipzig, he's got that all round game and personality that we would benefit from and he's available for around £15m with only a year left on his deal. I am gutted Jesper Lindstrom has gone to Eintract as he's destined to be the next big Danish talent. Others that I rate that fall in to the below £30m bracket is: • Pedro Goncalves (Sporting though) • Houssem Aouar • Jesse Lingard (jokes aside he knows how to deliver) • Daichi Kamada • Adil Aouchiche

How many of our fans know Leicester . I have walked down half the streets in the city and I know most of its history. The football club is an extension of the city and its people. You never really understand that from a distance. I welcome the massive increase in our support of course but I will always respect the opinions of real Leicester people above others. Not intending to have a go, but I don’t think this matters at all. I was born in Leicester, but lived in the country side (and now quite a long way away, because life happened), I can’t tell you any street names aside from where the stadium is. But I have watched basically every minute of football the first team has played in the last 25 years or so. The best thing about the premier league IMO is the common ground it has created for me with people all over the world, not just the UK. People know Leicester City everywhere. Met a guy in America before Covid who at the time was recently granted asylum after isis killed part of his family, he knows our whole team going back 5 years or so, his English wasn’t top notch but but he still knows “chat shit get banged”. He noticed my accent and asked me if I liked football, never would have met him otherwise. I can’t not love that, and it’s just one example. I reckon the ratio of clueless fans is pretty similar living in Leicester vs living in any other location. 7

As good as he is on his day he's had a few injury problems and never looked back to his best when returning from those injuries. With our midfield options we should be looking at going 4-3-3 and that 60m could get us a top RW and a CB. On balance I think its a good move for all involved. Gotta remember, when thinking what fee we should accept, that a significant proportion of it will be owed to Norwich. In my opinion Arsenal should be forced to bear the extra cost to cover this. I think we should demand at least 70mill so that we have more than enough to bring in the replacements we crave to fund a nett improvement to the squad.

TheUltimateWinner Posted 3 August 2021 Posted 3 August 2021 Sounds to me like Arsenal are interested but not willing to cough up the funds Sounds like Maddison would be interested but not enough to push through a move and wouldn't mind staying here
NasPb Posted 3 August 2021 Posted 3 August 2021 From all what he's done over summer and being involved in so much stuff regarding the clubs social media i think he has a point to prove. He seems hungry.
midland_red Posted 3 August 2021 Posted 3 August 2021 Remember though that selling player A for a good price to buy players B and C only works if B and C are happy to come and their clubs don't see a cash rich Leicester coming
FoxesWalk Posted 3 August 2021 Posted 3 August 2021 I’m sure these guys are all getting lots of clicks from Arsenal fans today. Don’t think it’s happening though. Not this summer, maybe next, but the fee is still gonna be BIG. If Ben White is £50m, I doubt we will go less than £70m with 3 years on his deal. Can they afford that? I doubt it. 2
KFS Posted 3 August 2021 Posted 3 August 2021 Do yourself a favour and repost the pic above somewhere on your social media. The reaction is fvcking beautiful
lcfc sheff Posted 3 August 2021 Posted 3 August 2021 It’s easy clicks to get Arsenal fans excited over a transfer that’s unlikely to happen… just saying 1
Guest SO1 Posted 3 August 2021 Posted 3 August 2021 Maddison is going nowhere being that he is English and a premier league proven scorer vs them shelling out 70 mil for Nicholas Pepe. If Arsenal wants him they will have to pay a premium.

Often been referred to Beckham with his set piece and shooting ball skills. Scoring hovering around double digits but from what I know of him he's a player that has authority in the middle of the park without needing to dictate. Has a touch of Gerard I've sometimes thought. You're right through, I think I'll ignore this topic. I know he's happy with us but he hasn't suppressed any transfer rumours through leaks or what have you and there's a lot of chatter saying he wants the move. I Hope not. 1

sdb Posted 3 August 2021 Posted 3 August 2021 Hmmm. He's decent value at £60m. We should only sell if they offer beyond what he's worth to us. £70m plus and I'd be happy. Otherwise I'd rather not strengthen a team only slightly weaker than us.
