What do we think the chances are of a 433/41221 setup where we play Youri, Soumaré and Wilf in the middle and Barnes (left), Maddison (right), and Daka/Vards/Kel centrally?

I know madders is right footed, so coming inside to shoot wouldn’t be ideal.

Pereira is the one for me as he's capable of playing across the front 3 places but we don't have the money unless we shift some on. That will be tricky

pereira will be going to be west ham

....people keep coming up with this formation and personnel!!!

The Maddison aspect is the problem, it is just an attempt to shoehorn him into the team, there are going to be games where we will not need to be playing a #10 and we play players in their right position.

I keep telling you, signing a RW is no lock.  I think Rodgers loves Perez and Albrighton for their predictability.  If it’s up to him he’ll push for a CB over an attacker any day of the week.

Weird thing about this for me is that at the end of last season if you had to prioritise all the positions that needed upgrading I'd have said an AMR possibly ST would have been top of the list yet our first signing was a CM. Now Soumare looks a great signing and I'm sure in the long run will pay dividends but if money is genuinely tight then it seems an odd signing as arguably it's one of the few areas where we are already well stacked and knew we had KDH returning who'd be pushing for a place in the squad. I can't understand why we seem incapable of addressing this position year on year given the amount of talent that is/has been available over the past few seasons.

Couldn't agree more.

If Man City sign Grealish, would Ferran Torres be too unrealistic?

Man City won't get rid of Torres as he has the versatility to play centrally as well as out wide.

They'll look to recoup money by selling Bernardo and possibly Mahrez.

If we had a definite target we would have signed him wouldn’t we? I am somewhat a little concerned that we haven’t signed a winger as of yet because it would be the final part of the puzzle for us! Fingers crossed we can pull something off.

I doubt we have the money to be frank. Untill we sell 2 players I can't see us getting a winger. If it comes to it I think BR will just play Pereira on the wing which is a square peg in a round hole but at the same time I understand we haven't got the money that other clubs have to be able to add 4 or 5 high quality players their teams every year.

As others have said we will no doubt have targets identified, whether they are available for the price we are willing to pay is another matter. I have no doubt the recruitment team are working hard to resolve this. I still think Beradi is our number 1 target and failing that we will sign someone on loan with an option to buy if successful. However I think for those reasons it may well be late in the window.

So what exactly did Rodger say about signing players in his post game? I missed it.

He said we don’t an endless pot of money

I'm uncertain as to what type of winger we are after, if any.

Are we after someone like Pereira who would probably be deemed more as a wide midfielder or a Barardi type player who probably falls into the Albrighton type of winger, but with a bit more end product. Then again, players like Bailey and Madueke have been linked who rely on pace to beat players.

All of these have different qualities that could add to our starting XI, but which type of winger would be best suited?

Loan with obligation to buy would be my guess. Works for both parties arguably as they selling club should be able to take out bank loans against the guaranteed future income (eg they get cash now regardless, then we pay off their loan in a year/in instalments), and the interest on that is presumably covered by the buying club.

Is there no one in the championship who we could take a punt on? I’ve not seen enough from Sowah, I think he will be good once he’s had a string of Europa appearances. We either need a players whose got the ability to create something ala Mahrez, or someone with the ability to go beyond a player, and almost be a carbon copy of Barnes on the right.

See what we can do, but I’m getting slightly dubious we’re entering into panic buy mode.

Thought the qpr number 10 looked good yesterday.

Yea he’s the lad they got from Ipswich I think? Perhaps Brendan is happy though….. if he’s talking about entering the market for a defender does that mean the back three will be the fall back option again?

I think a Pacy right sided winger will also help Madders out, having two pacy wide players to pass too means he has more options when he gets his head up to find that pass.

Id be bitterly disappointed if we don’t get one. It’s literally all we need.

Perhaps this is the brave new world of not selling a big name, and we have to bridge gaps slowly. :dunno:

Daka you can see, Bouba is a just quality and can fill in many positions or just fit the new formation?
