Quite unbelievable that a club who’s just got relegated from the PL haven’t got a semi-competent striker in the Championship. Absolutely baffling incompetence.

He plays facing the opposition goal which the other strikers don’t - he’s not full of ability but that is a fundamental thing forwards should do

To be fair to him I think it was Fatawu where he should have rolled him in for a open goal.

None of our strikers score goals.  Carranza and Daka occupy defenders, Ayew occupies midfield.  

Whilst Carranza and Daka occupy defenders, the Argetine does it by standing still and being easily marked out.  Daka, to his credit, does move a bit and so defenders have to move with him which in theory creates space for others and opportunity. He also works hard off the ball to close players down.

It's just a real shame that the one thing you have a striker in the side to do, he's absolutely shit at.  Don't think you'd miss much with Reid at striker or with no striker at all at times.  All options are incredibly sub par.  Really would be nice if we could work a false 9, but given we often play like we're playing a false 11, it's too much to ask.

He was, But still struggles with his first touch which is not to difficult to fix. His starting isn't great either he is always square on to the Ball.

Instead of getting side on where he'd see the bigger picture which would give him an advantage.

He did worked hard today though and laid on the pass to DCR to score the equaliser.

He's definitely our best striker- the bar is low, but he offers a lot of energy and can actually press.

 

A run in the side, a lucky goal going in off his backside, a bit of confidence and a competently set up side behind him (with a number 10 looking for passes in behind) and he can be effective at this level.

Yeah I don't disagree with any of that. I certainly don't hate him like a lot of people seem to, I like the guy and would love him to start scoring but at this point it's just hard to see how that happens - we all know his technical limitations, at this point his confidence must be through the floor and he's in and out of the team which is not a healthy combination. That said, even if he continues to misfire I'd still be starting him over Carranza or Ayew.

Does anyone know the record for the number of games a centre-forward has gone without scoring?  Daka must be in world record territory now.  The next best I can find is Diego Forlan with 26 consecutive blanks.

Apparently Alan Smith went 70 games without a goal.  At Man Utd and Newcastle.  That's the Premier League record.

Agreed but how many chances can you genuinely think of hes had infront of goal in that time? The people behind him create absolutley nothing and have done for 18 months

He and all our strikers barely ever get in positions to score, they're all ****ing wank. 

 

Thought he was ok today at least in movement and he's the only striker we have who can press. Still absolutely dross though.

He's got about 30 games left here, at his current strike rate of 0.019 goals per app for the last 18 months we're due another 0.6 ISH goals before he signs for Kasımpaşa!

True, but perhaps it would be more interesting to say how many goals have we scored whilst Daka had been on the pitch without scoring himself?  Then that excuse kind of evaporates.

Yeah but how many games in that 51 has he started? 10? 

 

Most his sub appearances are a 10min desperate hail Mary when the game has usually long gone

Yet vardy managed nine last season at 37 odd.
