I haven't been there in ages, no idea if it would be OK for a 5 year old, especially after the game.

It's a pleasant atmosphere after the game. Those that want food seem to book tables so I would call them in advance.

There are always plenty of kids at casa romana on match day, mostly tigers fans rather than city though. Depends on what you are looking for!

Actually if you ain't to worried about yourself my lad had a decent burger at the grand Union at the bottom of Newalk before the man city game. Ok it ain't gourmet but for a 10 year old it did the job. Fat **** even doubled up his half pounder for a quid. A whole pound of meat. And before anyone comments. He's as thin as a rake. Must have hollow legs.

You could jump onto the bus into town. It can get busy but I have never had to wait that long. That way you will have loads of options

Good shout, hadn't even thought of jumping on the bus.

Get him a kebab off the Narb ... genuinely there are a few decent Turkish places along Narborough Road, they do shashlik and stuff, nice bits of bread, rice, olives

Which are the best kebab houses then on Narb rd? It seems rammed with them when you take a left from Upperton Rd for a mile or so.

Peter Pizzeria in Welford Place is decent and only 20ish mins walk from the ground. (Think it’s still open.)

You can also tell him about Ranieri’s clean sheet pizza classes from 15/16 too.

Went there on Thursday before the Napoli game, was very decent tbf. Convenient for the station and the King's Head.

The only ones I've tried have been Istanbul on the Narb which wasn't exactly cheap but was fair for the quality, probably the best regarded one along there. And a few more years ago now Efes Mangal on Braunstone Gate which was for a big family birthday meal thing, which was also pretty good but probably comparable in price compared to the other one.

Honourable mention to the Greek Place on Belvoir Street called The Olive too, which does generously portioned Gyro's, souvlaki, calamari.

All definitely better than a burger anyway ... get some culture in the lad, you're in Leicester ;)

That place is really good, great value. And the Mexican place opposite is great too

Efes Mangal is the only one to sell alcohol though

The Burrito place? That's a great option if you want a really reasonably priced quick meal.

Think we're going to try and jump on the bus as per @rachhere suggestion so we're in town. Then we've got lots of options.

Plus he's not been into Leicester that much, so I can put him off ever going again lol

These sound like sit in places? I thought we were talking takeaway style places? Maybe I should have said kebab shop!?

If you have got Uber try and use that. We use it after the games as it works out cheaper & quicker than the bus.

....Golden Spice on the Narborough road does a very large portion kebab with all the trimmings which appears very popular!!!

They do a variety of food such as chips rice dishes, curries and all you could think of.

If you fancy it, try Cherrians (also on the Narborough Road), they do Caribbean, Indian dishes, Patties, and BBQ chicken. Very cosmopolitan city with a rich variety in foods from different countries, why limit yourselves.

Wouldn't normally start a new topic for something like this, but felt it would reach more people who'd know rather than popping it in the Question thread in General Chat.

Me and my sister are taking my 5 year old nephew to his first game on Saturday, and thought rather than rushing back to our mums, where my sister is stopping the weekend, we'd take him for something to eat after. Does anyone know anywhere that's family friendly, not too far from the ground where we could take him? I suggested Nandos, but I think he wants a beef burger lol Ideally we want somewhere that won't be crazy busy so we're not waiting ages for food, or it's not rammed with noisy fans.

It's so much easy going football with out kids lol

Take a Camping-stove & Grill on the Cut, or under the Seat before you...Take an extra Burger to bribe the steward...

It's not 20 minutes when you're walking with my Nephew lol

Is he pacey? Could solve our search for a new winger.
