It's not even an international break and I'm coming up with rubbish threads, but how do you see Jamie Vardy retiring?

Will he just do it out of the blue and say that's it? At the top of his game, a la Eric Cantona?

Will he announce midway through a season that he's calling it a day and we'll have the mother of all Vardy parties to send him on his way?

Could he be let go by us at the end of a contract and go down a division or two for a couple of years?

Will he move to player manager, like  Wayne Rooney? (Hopefully with more success)

Would he stick around forever, like Billy Sharpe and be happy to make occasional appearances?

Which one of these, or any other options would you prefer?

Whatever scenario plays out, I hope it doesn't happen for a while yet.

Will be a sad day when it comes, a true Leicester legend.

He’ll leave two legacies, that of a top class goal scorer and that of the genius who penned “Chat Shit Get Banged”.

Is he allowed to play in the US, given he part owns a team? If he can't then I think he'll retire here aged 38 and then make a brief return a year later to keep us up.

I would love the idea of him being like the Chiellini and Bonnuci, just always there because he'll always have something to offer. I'd had written him off at the end of last season but he looks just as good as he ever did.

Realistically I can see him going to his part owned American team and making history there.

Either way if he leaves or retires I'm certain of a party just like when we won the league around the city.

Pretty sure he said he wants to stay here for the rest of his career or until he is told otherwise, and I just can’t imagine we would let him go

I think he will still be with us for a fair few more years yet and will get a new decent contract some time this season, eventually retire from playing with us, and go off to his project with Rochester as an owner rather than a player

Probably something like this:

- Picks up a niggling groin injury that keeps him out for 2-3 weeks.

- Daka comes in and can't stop scoring.

- Vardy is now the bench player / rotation option rather than starting every game. We just can't leave Daka out.

- Stays for the next season in this role as still has a big contribution to make.

- Leaves to sign for Sheffield Wednesday / one last pay day in America / just decides to call it time. Top makes him an incredible offer to stay, but it's not because he doesn't want to, but because his job here is complete and Daka is ready to take over.

Not sure when this will happen though. After the tail off in his form last season it looked liked the end was nigh, but he's been comfortably our best player this season and in modern day football you need strength in depth. If he looks after himself he could yet play for quite a few more seasons. Jermaine Defore, Ibrahimovic and Ronaldo have all shown you can keep going even as a striker. The question is if he wants to? With the Premier League and FA Cup win he's basically completed football. A European Trophy would be the icing on the cake, but not winning it will hardly undermine the Jamie Vardy story.

If you were Jamie Vardy I think you would feel pretty content and satisfied with what you had done in your life. At some point you will wake up and not feel the motivation any more and want to do something else and it's at that point he will call it a day.

When he's scored 200 PL goals, he'll "semi retire" at Wednesday.

Has the type of goal he scores changed from his earlier days?He seemed to score a lot of goals like those of Daka today. The goal against Man U was not like that. Just subtle movement inside the penalty area.

What I mean is. Is he less reliant on sheer pace? If so, he could be here for a lot longer than we think. Hopefully.

You're right, I think he's adapting.

We've seen many players do it over the years, especially as their experience grows.

Whilst not comparable to Vardy, some examples I can think of are Sheringham, Giggs and Ronaldo.

Isn't retirement age in England 65 or 70 now?

66 but increasing all the time. Probably 80+ by the time JV gets there.

A moment like this as Vardy hands his Champions League Hattrick ball to Daka, it’s all yours now kid. Daka knows he has big shoes to fill, but the first game of the following season is WBA away, Daka runs riot and holds his fingers to his lips in Vardy corner - and all is well in the world

To me, yes.  He still has burst but there's no question his footspeed overall has significantly declined.  He makes up for it by clever movement off the ball and reading play to pick his opportunities.

I could see Vardy being very effective as a 20-25 minute energy player off the bench, where fresher legs would make up for some of his declining pace.  Whether he has interest in going that route I have no idea.
