Really pleased that Maupay missed his penalty.  Cheating bellend.

Very average performance, through to the last 8.

Me too. Hate that hunchback ****.

Really poor, the best bit was Vestaunguard falling over on the halfway line. Now we can look forward to losing 8-0 to those cnuts from East London. Wan~ers.

We got the job done that's about all you can say about it.

Too many chances missed before we let them back into the game.

But that's us all over, Generous to the end.

The Penalties other than Daka's I thought were poor. If their keeper didn't keep diving he might have saved a couple.

Still we're through that's ll that matters.

Football is a funny game. That was as turgid a display as it gets but unlike earlier in the season when we were getting punished we’ve somehow managed to win 4 in row and have gained a bit of momentum. Hopefully we can carry that into the weekend against a resurgent Arsenal.

Harsh on KDH thought he okay… also had to play next to Hamza

Think he just needs to get up to the speed of playing at this level. Seems to take one too many touches when he gets a chance to run with the ball. In the championship he'd be allowed that touch.

No one could pretend that was a good match, but we're through and I'm happy.

KDH and Choudhury not good enough, I'll give VDC the benefit of the doubt for now.

Soumaré wasn't an improvement when he came on in the KDH role. I think we've been spoiled watching Youri.

Thought they were perfect penalties. If a keeper’s gonna give you that whole side of the goal, just take it and make sure the ball goes in. lol

I agree, our first teamers didn't improve things at all.

Poor, in a ‘each of them was successful’ kind of poor

How were they poor? That’s exactly what you’re supposed to do against a keeper like that.

They were hit too close to the Keeper. None were in the Corner where it's really difficult to save them. Had their Keeper stood his ground he would have saved a couple. The really good keepers watch the kicker and the Ball.

He didn’t have a good game tbh. Was hoping he’d take his chances but tbh in his last two games he’s not done that. Our midfield got schooled throughout the match.

And the good takers watch the keeper and the ball.

Their goalie was going early. We didnt need to find the corners. It's good penalty taking.

That's part of the point I was making, He was diving early and left a lot of space for our lads to shoot at. A Keeper should really stare the Ball down that's where they get the best clue as to where it's going.

Well they weren’t bad penalties then, just not great keeping, some people are never happy.

Loads of changes so it’s no surprise it was a shit game. When we go beyond the bench our depth is pretty shite.

Not impressed with KDH, if that’s down to a lack of playing time or what but he isn’t doing it for me when he plays.

Bertrand is still wank.com as is Lurch he was bollocks again today……

Not overly fussed with the performance, we got it out the way with no injuries.

Absolute bonus for us to get through when resting so many players 🔥

Brighton are a very good side now, they will take some big scalps this year in the league, very impressed again by their depth, they only really lack a couple of top quality players - one up top and one CM and they’d be pushing for Europe, might even do so anyway as they are very well coached. If we ever lost Brendan we’d have to be all over Potter.

3 Positives for us:

Danny Ward - some great saves in the first half, did great in the shootout - he looked 10X more intimidating in that goal than Steele did for them.

Harvey Barnes - looked hungry and saw a reminder of how good he is and will continue to be.

Patson Daka - Was a pest, they literally had to foul him as much as possible to stop him 😂 and even then he found a few chances that had them worried - and a superb, intelligent assist of the Mane sort of level across for KDH to rattle the bar.

3 Things to Work On:

Soyuncu/Vestegaard - they really don’t communicate well at all 🤦‍♂️ while Vestegaard got a lot of his mistakes and errors highlighted he did also look very isolated by his guy alongside him putting him into difficult positions. Soyuncu is also looking worse as a result, notice during the shootout they were stood together for the first penalty and then moved to opposite ends of the huddle. Somethings odd there and we need a team effort for our defence to improve right now, there’s a feeling of individuals going on there.

KDH/Daley-Campbell - both still a bit raw and lacking that little bit of extra Premier League quality, still hopeful for both as long as our coaches can identify that they physically are fine but require some real focus on end product to really take that next step forward.

Lookman - potentially a controversial one here, he took his goal well and linked up with a few good one twos, but it was right to take him off towards the end as whenever he came under that bit more defensive pressure from Brighton he’d lose the ball very easily and we’d end up under pressure very quickly. He needs a bit more of that Maddison ability to at least be able to draw a foul and take the pressure of us in those spots.

Hamza was an interesting one tonight, as long as he doesn’t try to do too much - aka make a brave pass at the wrong time he seemed relatively solid but needs to really then focus on being strong in the tackle and doing a Wilf - aka laying it off to someone else to go forwards with it. There was a time he looked like a box to box option but it’s just that final ball seems to only be 40% good 🤷‍♂️

all in all - job done, things learned, back to the training ground and let’s go make a mark against Arsenal Saturday 🦊

Generous assessment of Hamza there. Had another poor match for me. Mainly wall passes back to the central defender even in acres of space. I love his full on tackles, he did one great one tonight but other than that he was ineffective, offered zero threat going forward and got schooled defensively by Brighton’s clever movement.

Each time he has played so far he has had to play as part of a heavily rotated side that has barely played together, if you are expecting him to step in and to run games like Youri you are being very unfair on him.
