Palace doing what we should've done when we were flying high.

Premier League club to demolish 101-year-old stand next month and transform stadium | talkSPORT

It’s a completely different scenario though. We have a stadium they have a ground with 4 modular stands, akin to Filbert St, which they have been in since 1924.

They 1st mooted the expansion 8yrs ago, so not something they have spoken about last week and thought ooh whilst we are on a high let’s build baby build. The costs have now doubled & after completion of a ‘single’ newly ‘developed’ stand they will only expand by 8k seats to 34k.

It would actually have been more cost effective to move & develop the CP national sports stadium or indeed build a brand new stadium.

We built a 32k seater stadium for 4 times less than they will spend on an additional 8k seats..so I’m not sure this can be used in the ‘look what proper clubs do’ list.

Does anyone know the last time we actually had even a mention of this from the club?

Also does anyone know the deadline before the planning permission ends? We all know it isn’t gonna happen now, just curious as to when it will finally be a dead project

Edit: apparently building works must start by Dec 2027.

They’ve probably dug a hole somewhere and declared it finished.

Wouldn't be the first hole they've dug for themselves in recent history...

This is my biggest issue too. Not even a mention. Spend all that money planning and the big release of the plans to go silent.

If it’s not happening just let us know even if it’s just through the FoxesTrust or something

What was actually approved by the council, is it just the stadium or were some of the other buildings set for the EON site approved as well? Just wondering if we'll see them start work on the footings for the other buildings to extend the deadline indefinitely.

In reality there's no chance this development goes ahead anytime soon, and even if we miraculously crept into the playoffs and achieved promotion (zero chance without a swift change in manager), I'd like us to revisit the actual stadium redesign as I think things have moved on and the bubble effect will look very dated.

You don't have to do an awful lot for it to count as a meaningful start and you can apply for permission to be extended.

That said, I don't expect we will be doing either.

Our development isn't happening anytime soon - since they plans were unveiled so much has happened on and off the pitch - we aren't the club we were. They haven't announced it's been shelved that because it's not positive news. They'll just assume people forget about.

If Forest struggle this season or next, I wonder what impact that would have on their plans, just like ours did. It's a chicken and egg situation - you need continued success to make infrastructure investments, and to have that success you need regular income and self sufficiency that infrastructure like this would bring. It's a fine balance. Miss it by 1-2 years and you're stuffed, like we are/

The bigger development is dead as the new PSR rules would not let you count revenue from a hotel and arena.

Look at the language in that post, they're as down the rabbit hole of cult as we are lol

"Our home for over 120 years will see a significant investment made by our owner, Evangelos Marinakis, to deliver a sustainable and iconic design which increases the stadium’s capacity to over 50,000."

Best let it go, it isnt happening.  Accept it and then no disappointment later.

Add this to the list of **** ups.

Has there been any official comms to say this has been cancelled?

Of course there hasn't been as that would be them admitting failure, and KPFC don't fail do they comrade!
