The idea that everything that comes out of Russia is lies and everything that comes out of Ukraine is the truth is daft. Everyone is spinning everything. Forced westernisation of Ukraine is daft, you only have to look at the videos of Ukranians attacking Africans who are trying to flee. Putin is obviously is evil, but there's no need to overexaggerate in the other direction.

There's that one of the neo Nazi Ukrainian troop soaking their bullets in pigs blood to attack the Muslim fighters too. I think your exact post is why I felt uneasy about russian today being censored. Everyone knows it's propaganda but there will be truth amongst it, it's really hard to get a balanced view of the conflict without actually actively finding it because the western media is effectively Ukrainian propaganda.

It does really feel to me, and I notice this with politics too where it does kinda become a bit of a football debate in a way, you have to back your side like you'd back your team and it's really counter productive

Incredible if true

I have seen similar reports and I am not surprised. Soldiers will almost always obey orders to attack an enemy which speaks a different language and has a different culture. However there are many examples in history of soldiers refusing to attack people with strong cultural affinities. Ukraine has a lot of shared history with Russia although the land which comprises modern Ukraine has not always been under Russian domination. At various periods in history it has been part of Poland or the Austro-Hungarian empire. Ordering Russian soldiers to fire on Ukrainians would be a bit like ordering the British Army to fire on the Irish. Eventually it won't work and they won't do it.

Ukrainians are defending their country. That will include some pretty dubious characters. If somebody attacked the UK I imagine there'd be some BNP types fighting along side me to defend it and I wouldn't give a shit. The fact remains that Ukrainian politics is a less far right than most countries in Europe.

I was replying to the post that said misinformation is likely to come from both sides.

You have obviously demonstrated your intelligence by not understanding what I wrote.

Which in itself was quoting a post about a specific bombing event. Your and Lionator's remarks are just contrarianism if neither of you are addressing that particular story which appears to have actually happened.  Save it for when it actually applies.

There is video going round of explosion in Southampton which lit up the sky their, police claimed it was group of thugs chucking electric scooters on the railway line? When you compare it looks very similar to the explosions in Ukraine :(

Zelensky is a fvcking hero.

He's there, willing to take up arms and personally defend his country.

Boris Johnson hid in a fridge to avoid a journalist.

However, Johnson has done a lot for Ukraine. We could do more though.

One thing bugging me, and maybe I don't understand...

There's a 40 mile convoy of Russians on their way to Kyiv...why doest someone just hit them with missiles?

He absolutely is, and that's why Putin will be wanting to kill him specifically, and as publicly as possible.

Thought he did very well answering the very emotional Ukrainian journalist personally. Still hate the bloke, but credit to him - and we absolutely should be more.

Nobody's quite sure about the current state of Ukraine's Air Force; they could be very low on numbers and equipment or just conserving it for the major battle for Kyiv. NATO countries absolutely cannot get involved because that will start WWIII

They have attacked the front and back of the convoy.  I read that the focus is on fuel supplies, because without diesel they cannot move or position the artillery or tanks.

Gone a bit weird with the president love in now.

It's a warfare situation. The turning it into a meme style caricature is straight up weird.

I’m pretty sure the yanks have troops on the ground … listening to this congresswoman and her response just screams we’ve got troops somewhere. Maybe I should sleep? I dunno.

Of course they will have. Ourselves too. We’ll just never know about it officially

I’m not sure Putin cares about the Geneva Convention or Protocol at this point. He’s intent on taking Ukraine but I see it stopping there.

I’d like to think that he wouldn’t start an all out war with NATO, unless they engage into a coalition with the Chinese. I’m not sure they even want that battle.

This will end with Ukraine falling and Russia being annexed from the world, similar to how North Korea was / is. They’ll make themselves an insular nation  and it’ll be the citizens on the ground that suffer.

It’s just a tragedy all around.
