Only signed a new deal in December till 2024 with an option to 2025 so can’t see him going anywhere soon

Personally, I would get Ric involved. He never would have recommended any surplus players from Southampton.

Congerton is overly hated though. James Justin, Wesley Fofana, Patson Daka are very good signings. Timothy Castagne and Ademola Lookman are decent to good. Sure he made some dud ones too, but that's a respecable hit rate.

 

Fofana is the obvious standout....

I like the look of Daka, very sharp and next season I hope he's capable of getting 10-15 league goals.

 

Justin has been responsible directly for more goals conceded than all our other full backs combined in the last 2/3 years, but gets a pass because he's more 'flashy' than Thomas. A good spell for about 3 months, going forward, has led to people forgetting defensively, he's probably our weakest full back in the 25 man squad. He has good energy....But he needs to improve defensively a lot. With KDH in front of him, Thomas looks the better player to me.

 

Lookman's form here is no better than Gray's has been at Everton this season.

Castagne is always injured, and looks a shadow of the energetic wing back that I watched play away at West Brom.

 

We've just played Leeds, in the league, and none of those who played were brought to the Club by Rodgers/Congerton....

We were envied by the rest of Europe for our ability to recruit, then Rodgers arrived and bought his mate with him just to get him a job. Now, we're miles away from where we were.

What does that actually mean? Does anyone know? Will he be posting out match tickets to Atalanta's overseas fans?

But who is going to be the scapegoat now?

 

It was Pearson briefly (but never Walsh)

Rudkin for a long time (but never Macia)

Then it was Congerton 

 

Who is going to take up the mantle now? Rodgers I suppose

Feel like people made their mind up about Congerton based on what we heard from Celtic fans.

 

He's been fine for us. Nothing incredible like Walsh was but he's done a decent job and has signed players that we will be able to sell for massive profit should the situation arise.

 

Good luck to him in Italy. He certainly doesn't deserve some of the negativity on here.
