Surely we do not go through the season only to say, "...we want to give you a contract.." and then say, but we can't afford to offer you a £200k a week contract.

On the assumption he continues to play well ,almost identical things were being said about Soyuncu a while back. Consistency in modern footballers is not guaranteed.

Steve Earle Posted 31 July 2022 Posted 31 July 2022 (edited) The wages 'issue' with CHO is the same as the wages issue for many of the players we're trying to move on. CHO would have to take a substantial reduction to join us permanently, and that can be 'moderated' or absorbed either by the selling club paying off some of their contract, or by the buying club paying a signing on fee. Take Vesty for example: if he's on £80k pw here (just as an example) and Fulham won't pay more than £60k pw and Vesty has two years left on his contract here, then he & his agent will be looking to make up all or a good part of 104 x (80-60) = £2,080,000. That's (happily) the difference for us between selling at £12m and selling at £10m. Or Fulham pay him say a £1.5m signing on fee plus the £60k pw, etc etc Edited 31 July 2022 by Steve Earle 2

Internet search says anywhere from 65 - 75, but no one says 80. My guess would be 70 or lower, but that would be a guess since no one really knows.

Vindaloo FOX Posted 31 July 2022 Posted 31 July 2022 He will leave Chelsea in this window Didn't we try to get him last summer also ?
indierich06 Posted 1 August 2022 Posted 1 August 2022 I would take Hudson-Odoi, there's obviously a player in there and it's easy to forget that he's only 21, feels like he's been around for years.
Nalis Posted 1 August 2022 Posted 1 August 2022 I'd take him on ability but I dont think he solves our wages issue, probably need to get rid of 2 of the Vesty/Hamza types to even consider this. Didnt Chelsea offer a new improved contract once Bayern were sniffing a few years back?

coolhandfox Posted 1 August 2022 Posted 1 August 2022 Loan, we need a short term fix to the RW issue. 2

Stadt Posted 1 August 2022 Posted 1 August 2022 Loan with an option to buy would be perfect. Albrighton and Perez just done;t offer enough. CHO is quick, dribbles well and he creates a lot because he plays with his head up. Played 71 career 90s, scored 16 and set 20 up for 0.51 G+A p90 (0.44 xG+xA). Perez's career figures are 0.46 G+A p90 (0.38 xG+xA) Albrighton's career figures are 0.27 G+A p90 (0.23 xG+xA) 1
surrifox Posted 1 August 2022 Posted 1 August 2022 If he was any good he’d get more playing time at CFC . The likes of the this guy, Mount, etc wouldn’t be noticed if they were at Villa or Brighton which is about his level . 1
Deeg67 Posted 1 August 2022 Posted 1 August 2022 (edited) It's moot because this would never happen, but if the club were to bring in CHO Brendo would never use him. He'd start out getting 20 minutes as a sub if we're losing, show up in a few Caribou Cup matches, then disappear off the far end of the reserves bench. Not a Rodgers player. Or Pulisic, Ziyech & Havertz (almost £200m collectively) are ahead of him in the pecking order?
JimJams Posted 1 August 2022 Posted 1 August 2022 Yeah, but apparently Chelsea are willing to let them go aswell so... ...(actually not Havertz). 1

ronnup Posted 1 August 2022 Posted 1 August 2022 Pulisic could do well here. Wes and Maddison out, Colwill , Pulisic and Ziyech in... No...I'd doubt it too
