That’s a long strain.. he’s been sidelined since that shocking Tottenham performance.

Yes of course, but their first goal was really sloppy from us.

not sure why people complain about Ward performance, he was fine to be honest

there were players worst than him for sure 

 

Amartey no comment - just exclude from team already

Fofana fall asleep few times today

Maddison probably worst game in a while

Vardy nowhere to be seen

Ndidi declined to the point of bellow average CDM

Not even sure that's true.

 

They scored out of nowhere. From that point it was the classic nervous response of a team that realised for all its dominance it was now a goal away from a poor result, and likewise an opposition thinking "we could nick this despite not being in it for an hour". We froze, they were galvanised. 

 

I wonder if bringing Daka on was some kind of rejoinder to the persistent moans about him being too negative when we're under the cosh, and inviting pressure i.e. Instead of trying to shore up the defence and just hang on he was trying to reassert our dominance?

 

Whatever his reasons, unless KDH was injured taking him off was a bizarre call. Likewise not answering the half-an-outfield team's worth of fresh legs Brentford had on

He wasn't the issue.   He didn't have much to do really. Made a couple of saves that you would expect him to make, couldn't have done  anything about the goals, and collected a couple of crosses. Was difficult to judge really because he never had enough to do, but done nothing wrong. Having said that, if as it seems, we aren't going to bring in another keeper, if it was up to me I would rather have gone with Iversen, but it is what it is, and now he will get a chance to make the position his own, hopefully he makes the most of it.

I don't know who is more naive; Rodgers for his substitution/tactics or me, for being excited for the new season only to totally forget how it can ruin your day/weekend.

 

Ahh well, early days I suppose?

I think any one of those subs today is up for sale if an offer comes in. Maybe didn't want to risk them? Certainly why Cags didn't start and he rather play Amartey on his weaker left side.

Yep. It was mentioned prematch by both myself and others, Cags must really have fallen out of favour.

Our football is slow and boring. There’s no urgency within our side at all. So patient without even being that dangerous.

 

As for Brendan, did he not realise we could make 5 changes today? I sometimes wonder what he’s thinking whilst he watches us absolutely bottle it from winning positions. 
 

One positive from todays game was Ward’s confidence at taking crosses. Also Wes was fantastic today I thought.

Rodgers should have made more subs. 

 

Out-thought by Thomas Frank. Had no response to their changes. 

Players 'fatigued' in the first game but you make no further subs? Makes no sense.

Yeah he certainly has shown that in the past, last season poor but we know he is far better than that really

Annoyingly he had out-thought Frank for the first 60 minutes or so

 

But not for the first time, we see him get done tactically when the opponent mixes it up and changes their whole setup midgame

OK. So might it be fair to ask that until the good player re-emerges perhaps people cut the "can't believe he didn't play' stuff?
