Firstly, I'm angry right now after today. We controlled the game went 1-0 up then shït it.

On another note, I don't think we can sack Brendan.

We sell Fofana for £80/£85m what ever the fee may be then sack Rodgers.

We owe 20% of the profits to St Ettiene then we would owe Rodgers £30m. That's is practically that money gone.

Then adding to that, who takes the job? Who could we get that is good enough to turn us around and meet or expectations?

Or we get relegated and it costs how much?

And unfortunately his ego won't allow him to walk, especially as he still seesm to be able to spin the media to suit his brand.

To a certain degree yes and I guess he must have the final say on who is signed. I will never understand Bertrand or Vestergaard but maybe he was poorly advised by the recruiting staff and scouts. I can't imagine he goes to see every potential signing in action, but rather is influenced by the staff he relies on, If their judgement is shite, it's them that are responsible.

That said, it's BR who is responsible for playing/not playing those players that under-perform week after week, such as Amartey.

His recruitment at Liverpool just before he got the boot wasn’t very good either. He is good at coming in and managing a ready made side but beyond that and building his own team I haven’t ever seen him do it successfully

Madness to carry on with Rodgers.

It's a sinking ship.

He is not capable of turning things around and we have been on the decline for over a year.

Has to be gone out the door as quickly as possible or we’re in big, big trouble. He’s sulking like a kid and hasn’t the balls to dig us out of this hole. All those smart arses ridiculing those that suggested relegation is a possibility looking dafter by the minute.

His post match interview was dull and uninspiring. Nothing to say that matched his brand. Any prospective employer in the future would see that and think, nah, he's got no motivation.

I believe relegation is possible after today. Today was the game I wanted to see something and all I got was the same problems

Absolutely agree. He inherited a PL winning team and that team went on to further success when he first arrived. It's a momentum thing. He's lost that momentum. Like driving a car that is running on empty after travelling at full speed. Slowing down with the inevitable stall.

Bertrand and Vestergaard were his own recommendations

OK I didn't know that tbf. In that case his own judgement is flawed.

We've been blessed with European football, two fifth place finishes and trophies.

The fans will want the same...

We likely will have 1 point after 5 games. I dont think anyone on here will be expecting European football this season or in the near future, we just badly need to stop the rot before relegation becomes a genuine possibility.

But he still manged to blame the club and situation, players, never his fault. So he will be fine, because no one ever questions him.

How much is left on his contract

Isn’t there an option to continue paying him monthly until he finds a new club rather than paying him a lump sum?

We don't want him - but don't want to pay compo/can't afford to sack him.

He doesn't want to be here and I dare say it's damaging his precious ego and reputation - but won't leave because rightly or wrong why should he give up his compo.

Mutual Consent - We pay him less than he's entitled to/He gets compo and walks away.

Everyone's a winner.

We  actually only have to pay him for 12 months (£10m), not the full 3 years. Correct?

It’ll depend on the break clauses within the contract.

I wonder if the board have actually made allowance for relieving him of his position and made provisions for this.

how did these ridiculous compensation figures ever make it into managers' contracts in the first place? surely if someone is doing a terrible job it's more than fair to give them an extra 2/3 months' wages and tell them to **** off.

Let's see if he is good enough to get us promoted in a season when we have lost our " crown jewels " .

Firmly believe Dyche could do a better job right now than Brendan. I think people are overestimating Brendans talents by quite some way to be honest. Let's be clear, he is nowhere near the levels of Pep, Klopp etc and I'd say there is a fair few managers in the Prem (let alone other leagues/countries who are better than he is and earning far less money. The very idea that Brendan has ever even been close to an elite manager is laughable. He's had some great spells with some decent clubs. Scotland doesn't count because my dead gran could have won titles with Celtic at the time he was there, but he isn't the serial winner that Celtic makes him look like he is. Far from it.

Great post.  While I would look at a higher level than Dyche there's one thing you can't deny about Dyche - he's as good as any manager to have in a relegation fight.  It may be over-pessimistic to think we may be in a relegation scrap but, for me, some of the signs are there and I wouldn't discount the possibility.

But who would want to come here? We need to come off our pedastal as we're likely to end up with someone like Dyche

loads of managers would want to come here, of course depending on whether it's true theres no money

Club has two choices.....

1) sack him

Or

2) Go and buy 2-3 good players with the money and try and give the others a boost.

To be fair if we sack Rodgers and give Etienne their 20% from the £80m we could likely get for Wes, there would still be atleast 35m to invest in a couple of defenders, and we would likely save money on the next manager.

I've also convinced myself that Tielemans, Ndidi and Soyuncu would bounce back under a new manager with fresh ideas.

I want to know what's gone on between about March/ April time when all the talk was of surgery to the squad - and even Top himslef said at the end of the season he was expecting a busy transfer window - to now when it seems to be a total rift between Rodgers and the board about any players coming in. He's making remarks about it at almost every opportunity, even saying in today's post-match that the fans haven't had the lift of new signings and are rightly frustrated.

Whatever is going on behind the scenes, it needs sorting out. You cannot have what, until 6 months ago, was a well-run outfit fall apart like it is doing. He's not covering himself in glory with his actions right now and that surely passes on to the players but everyone agreed the squad needed a rebuild and it's not actually his fault that hasn't happened. It should have been adressed in the summer and everyone either agree to shut up and get on with it, or part ways. We're looking like a bunch of tits withthe 4th highest paid manager throwing his toys out after 3 games.

There's money and no one at the club has ever said otherwise. Even the dwarf accepts its wages that have crippled us. And why he may not be the one handing out the contracts he must have know the situation despite his quotes.
