Too Soon To Sack Him??

I read earlier that it would be unreasonable to sack a manager after just 3 games.

 

I have some sympathy with this view so looked up the last 10 games of PL games last season. 
 

Add those results, and in the last 13 PL games his record is:

 

Won - 3

Draw - 4

Lost - 6

 

13 points in 13 games, over a third of a season so a good sample set??

 

So with 38 games we’d expect 38 points (assuming this deteriorating form doesn’t continue to decline).

 

In 25 seasons of the Premier League that would mean relegation in only 3 seasons.

 

So, as long as BR keeps up the 1/3rd of a season form we have a 1:8 chance of relegation.
 

Hope that gives some comfort!!

At least two of the win’s came against relegation fodder (I think?) So form wise less than poor.

Yeah, I tried not to take notice who the results were against as a 1/3rd season should represent a good data set

Are those last 3 games not against 2 already relegated sides (including one that fielded half a team of reserves) and a poor Southampton side? It papered over the cracks of relegation form and we've now been beaten by Southampton!

Yup…. But statistically we’re likely to get the equivalent of those breaks this season?

 

It’s frightening how we are declining and no action is being taken

True, but weren't two of those breaks not Brentford and Southampton with the players we have available to us compared to them? We can hardly consider them teams fighting for Europe. Very worrying.

Not soon enough for me. Said back around October/November this goose was cooked. Had nothing but reassurance of that since and I'm at a point where I'm actually quite fearful we could drop if we're not careful. The first move is to change him.

We have ample time right now.  We're only 3 games in.  I believe that sacking him now would be received negatively by the media... "Poor Brendan... Leicester don't know what they're doing.... What do they expect when they don't back the manager... blah blah blah".  I don't, for one minute, think that would bother those at the club but they have to be mindful of image for attracting a new manager and even new players.

 

Providing Brendan can maintain a 1pt/game average, then any half decent new manager, should be able to steer us well clear of any relegation battle give half a season or more.

 

There's not enough time left in the window for a new manager to come in and spend wisely so we may as well stick with what we've got for another month or two, and use that time to begin conversations with possible replacements.  When he does go, I'd like there to be a swift replacement, not stretching it out for weeks.  The games come thick and fast this season with no international breaks.

 

I think he'll be gone following the first defeat in October.  That means he'll remain in charge for our games against Chelsea (A), Man Utd (H), Brighton (A), Villa (H) and Spurs (A), unless we manage something terrible like 1 point or less.  He'll then go following the first defeat in October, or maybe home draw - Forest (H), Bournemouth (A), Palace (H), Leeds (H), Wolves (A).

 

A new manager can then come in with around 25 games to get us 30 - 35 points and who knows, a decent cup run as well.  It also gives them time to take a good look at the squad and prepare a shopping list for January.
