I’m indifferent to Kante to be honest. I don’t dislike him for going to Chelsea, he was completely transparent, insisted on a release clause in his contract and left with a minimum of fuss. He’s won the Premier League, Champions League and World Cup since.

But I will always find it incredibly sad that a player would leave the Champions for any reason.

Towards the end of that title winning season I used to just count down in my head when the opposition had the ball near him and within 5 seconds he’d have it back. Exceptional player.

Loved it.

The second half of that season, I, as a fan, felt so arrogant when watching us defend set pieces.

It was a complete given that Morgan or Huth would get the ball clear, and then Kante would go and win the second ball around 25 yards from our goal. Pure magic.

Remember him starting away at Stoke and he was awesome. Think he even played on the wing.

He did for several games. Ranieri later said that Kante stayed quiet and just smiled when he asked where he wanted to play, so he tried him on the wing/right midfield. Ranieri soon sussed it, of course and we all know what happened from then on.

Started on the wing, right? What a lad!

Started off on the left.

Got moved into the center against Bury because Gohkan Inler couldn't hack it if I remember correctly.

I've no idea why I said right wing when Mahrez occupied that side. I watched him on it enough times.

Silly me. I don't know my right from my left

could not wait to leave us left us with a huge gaping hole in midfield that we struggled to fill, we took him out of the french league gave him a platform to show his talent , who knows what would of happened in the champions league if he would of stayed at least another season, i really have no idea why leicester fans think so much of him do leicester fans not see the damage he did to us , does anyone think that he would not be doing what fofana is doing if he did not have that clause in his contract,

He came on at ht v Stoke, we were 2-0 down i think. Played Central midfield.

I remember the word a Stoke fan used as they watched this guy individually change a game. Colossal. Not a word I'd ever heard that often from a punter, let alone an opposition fan.

Stoke fans had just witnessed greatness and accepted it. We had 34 games or so of it. I count myself lucky.

True but after his heroics here he had the right to choose where ever he wanted to go, clearly didnt choose badly

Yet plenty of our fans bizarrely hate Mahrez who according to some on here really didn’t have the right to chose wherever he wanted to go.

People like Kante because he got a low-balled release clause into his contract and so could leave of his own choice for a cut-down fee but hate Mahrez when he didn’t and couldn’t and we got a much more reasonable fee for him.

Always found the way Kante is treated compared to Mahrez by Leicester fans to be utterly absurd.

It's weird you say that because that was my memory of it in the away end but I googled before I posted and BBC had him down starting and playing 86 minutes.

There was a half again at Arsenal where I don’t think I’ve ever seen a better performance from a footballer. He was literally that good. Incredible player and we were lucky to have him

Kante kept to his contract. Mahrez tried to break his.  Kante hasn't bad mouthed us since.  Mahrez spoke about two wasted years at LCFC.

N'golo Kante made his full debut for us - Bury away. He was incredible that night.

The rest, as they say, is history!

Plus where are Bury now?! How times change in football these days .... in no time at all!

Him leaving for Chelsea was already organised & planned when he came here, the

question was would he have a top first season,or asked to stay one more…

If he didn’t have that promise,he wouldn’t of ever been a Leicester man.

He gave us that one  season that brought & bought the title..You have to understand & know the FULL story, which was no secret…

but some fans can’t be bothered to read ALL statements,so miss the whole story.

Weeks before he signed,he wasn’t going to move to any club,if Chelsea wasn’t

coming in to take him…Leicester obliged by agreeing those terms…

one, with a possible 2 seasons maximum…His first season showed Chelsea why they should gobble him up after that season & not wait…

So you can’t brow beat the man,on something was an open issue. Some pundits were not in the know,so speculated, but mainstream were aware hence no point

Made from London journalists,or the big boys further up stream..

And proves again why all the stories from fans over Rodgers is scrambled noise,

They are creating their stories, without any flesh on the bone..

Kante didn’t try and “break his contract” at all. Weird accusation. Kante could leave of his own choice because he got a low-balled release clause written in his contract which got us a pathetic fee in relation to his worth, which the club felt so screwed  over by so much to the point that the club have refused to give them out since. Mahrez we got a much more reasonable fee for, Kante screwed over the club much more than Mahrez did

Kante hasn’t bad mouthed us since because he barely acknowledges our existence and that he ever played for us.

This. Would have been fascinating to see what we could have done in the UCL with peak Kanté in the side, bearing in mind that we got to the QF without him.

I don't blame players if the club signs up to a bad deal with them.  But I do have a problem if they refuse to play as a way of trying to break a deal they have signed up to.  Fair enough if we see things differently.

excuse my ignorance ,so that makes us a feeder club to chelsea wasnt the clause 28m and then chelsea upped it to 32m when other clubs started to sniff about, also where is this information about was not going to move to any club but chelsea or any of the other facts that you stipulate, i have been following leicester far too long to go along with the nice guy only ever wanted to play for chelsea garbage that you are spewing out, i realised that our three best players from that season were going to move on (well one of them stayed and that says so much about him) but after waiting decades for us and never dreaming it could happen we won the league, like i said to all my mates just give us one year see how we do in the champions league, he could not wait to leave , now you can cheer him from the rafters if you like

, but i for one will not i know the damage he did to the club that season as we struggled to find a replacement, one season thats all in the champions league ,loyalty lol

So did Mahrez and Drinkwater but they get dogs abused compared to Kante who just left.

Kanté, if I’m remembering correctly, more or less wouldn’t sign without a buy-out clause. It was clear the plan wasn’t to stay here for long and he was clearly world class, as we found out his choice to move worked out well for him.

Mahrez and Drinkwater didn’t deserve the level of abuse they got but ultimately if you can’t, or decide not to, negotiate a buy-out clause you’re at mercy to your contract, and you’ll be seen in a more negative light if you protest a contract you’ve willingly signed.

Yes he played left wing. Honestly I turned round to the lad after 15 minutes into the game and said what the hell is Claudio doing playing him on the left wing he’d be a world class player through the middle. It’s the only true insight I’ve had in watching Leicester in 45 years. I also said Kaine would never make it, that Lineker didn’t look up good enough etc etc

Amazing to think at that point in time we had never won the league or FA Cup and none of us knew anything about epidemiology or the UK's limited gas storage capacity.

He’s my favourite Leicester player of all time even though we only saw him for a season… Rare  do you see the immediate impact of one player on a team.. Kante did exactly that..

He got us going forward at every opportunity…

An absolute freak of a player..
