Had our shooting boots on we score 3 or 4.

Agree. On watching it again on replay I still can’t see what was wrong with Barnes headed goal. Mendy was pushing into him which made his arm go on to his shoulder to keep his balance. First goal was also a lucky deflection. 9 games out of 10 Vardy scores at least one yesterday. One of those days. We should have done better in all our games so far but we are competitive.

I’d like to see Cags given a chance and Iversen at some stage but apart from some strange subs late in games you can make good arguments for our team selections so far. The dropping of want away players is entirely justifiable.

I just hope we are on the ball with some rapid well thought through incomings at CB and RW. Even if we don’t though we should still have enough quality to stay in the division as I haven’t seen any notable lack of fight or desire over the end of last season.

Chelsea hit the woodwork twice so could also have had 4 or 5

In fairness Vardy had 2 clear cut chances and Castagne missed a one v one. Our xG was 2.0 so we also could have had 3 or 4..

I’ve said this before KF.

When you know you have to score (because you’ve conceded as a team) you’re more likely to snatch at your shots. Having to score puts pressure on the strikers. All good teams start with a solid defence.

What is this? lol

This is one of the maddest footballing theories I've ever heard. Unless it's a penalty you're really not going to be thinking about the current score or state of the game.

Vardy snatches shots because that's what he does, sometimes he lashes them in, sometimes he scores lovely improvised goals, often he messes up simple chances. It gets overlooked a lot due to his legendary status and the fact that people paint him as the best striker the club  country world has ever seen.

If that is the case, can you let other teams know that they're supposed to snatch at good chances when they go behind against us :D

Barnes had his arm around the back of his neck. Always gonna give it as a foul

A snapshot doesn’t show the way Mendy pushed into barnes forcing him to hold on to his balance as he was in the air. At worst it was 50/50. Should have been given. If Chelsea had scored that would we have been surprised if it had been given?

I watched the sky sports highlights and I thought Chelsea were unlucky to  only win 2-1. Then I saw this and realised sky must have left out a bucket full of chances we created. Time for an extended highlights hunt

Honestly, we wasted some great opportunities.

The lack of pressure for their second vs 10 men was pathetic. It’s like we don’t want to win sometimes

Just caught up on MOTD.

So from what I can tell.

Chelsea went down to 10 men. We then looked a better team for the last 10-15 minutes. Rodgers got to talk to the players and then Chelsea seemed to dominate till they went 2-0 up and then sat off and let us attack haha.

I'd say if Vards and Castagne had scored their first half chances it'd be a different game, but it probably wouldn't have. We've have just come out second half to defend and conceded anyway :D

What a save by Ward to prevent Sterling.

In previous seasons we nick a 2-1 win or 2-2 from that match scenario. Passive defending is killing us though. At times in every match we just switch off, lack of intensity closing people down or tracking runners. This is the obvious way you can see a refresh of the playing squad or manager is required as just going through the motions at times during matches.

Justin, Castagne, Barnes all played well. To be fair Tielemans played some lovely balls that Vardy should have bagged at least one.

KDH corners even worse than Maddison and Tielemans !

Reading this I can sort of understand why the majority of other clubs fans would like us to get relegated. So many people have lost the plot. We’ve punched for a few seasons and now it’s time to realise who we really are.  We are merely West Brom, Sunderland, West Ham , Derby, Reading, Wolves etc with one difference. That was we made the most of our top form.  We won trophies. I enjoyed the success and I’ll enjoy the good times again when we get relegated and ultimately come back up because basically that is who we are. A team who will yo yo in the top two divisions.

Superb, with an attitude like that we best stay in our lane, it's about trying, and we ain't, at the moment, you can rattle on all day about who you think we are, but it's not wrong to want better or try to strive to be better, the club disagree based on the evidence, Sea Grave, Stadium Expansion, one of the best paid managers in the Prem, hardly actions of a team and owners happy to languish between championship and bottom half prem, it's clear and obvious we need a new leader, to lead and inspire this team, and to instill the Fearless Fox motto, instead of the Soft Foxes, attitude we are seeing, i want to see an upturn, but under BR it's not going to happen he has done great things, but time for a new chapter, or I fear we may end up like you want us too.

One of the only saving graces to our dismal start is that we have shown effort and desire in the main. We played Chelsea away. Lack of confidence, nous, form and dare I say it ability yes but we didn’t give up.

What the **** went on in the changing room? We went on top going into the break. Within 18 minute of the second half whistle, Chelsea were 2 up and hit the post while we appeared to always be one short at the back.

As for them weirdo Chelsea kids, probably completely detacted from the heritage of football, who are waffling about owning Leicester now. Just **** off, it’s not healthy and just go off to your super league

Moments in the sun before hitting a level.

Yeah. Man City should simmer down and know their level. They should stop winning everything and go back to the championship where they belong.

Except Man City were a regular honours winning club and they got the luckiest takeover winning ticket of them all

Super League will arrive and there will be positives. Game needs a reset.

Regardless of whether he was injured or not, surely the choice of substitution was very odd to say the least.

If you have minutes to go and are chasing a last ditch goal, whilst accepting his height, why bring Ndidi on who is hardly a goal machine from set peices or open play. Yet we leave a tall striker like Daka on the bench?

Maybe Rodgers felt that Daka was even less likely to score.

Went to the game and thought it was a bad defeat. Having slept on it I think we are still underplaying how bad it was.

Chelsea away is a difficult fixture. But we have to acknowledge that in professional football, playing with an extra man for 60 out of the 90 is a massive advantage - and all the stats back that up.

Their second goal in particular was abysmal from us. To be carved open like that by a team with 10 men is something I’ve not really seen happen very often at the top level.

...we do not close players down who are 20 yds from goal, it happens over and over again!!!

It is not a player failing to do his job, but a part of how we defend. Rodger wants to bring in players who can see the danger and go out and close players down, it can also be coached,  like a lot of fallings that seem to go on without being remedied.
