Rodgers just confirmed the Wilf for Youri sub was tactical.

Absolute melt.

Tactical move to worsen our attack.  Dont want Tielemans whipping in a good ball and equalising when we could lose and he'll get paid faster.

Could be ,teams like Stoke  never thought they'd  go down

A comment I made some time ago. Stoke had nine years of top 10 finishes and disappeared pretty quickly. Complacency and inability to keep improving will cost us too.

you have to get the ball to score, not that hard to understand. youri was sat in the hole picking up the ball and threading passes 🤷‍♂️

you don’t just put 11 strikers on and expect it to go in

Did I say 11 strikers? 😂 Do you think Ndidi who can sadly barely pass 5 metres nowadays was going to set up anything like Tielemans did? No.

I’m not sure they were top  ten for 9 years. I’d fact check that. I’m sure I can remember them being like 13th a couple of times in that time.

Got to feel for Fanny Dard. He must be knackered. When he signed up for this he thought he would get the odd game away to Derby or Wycombe. But 4 games in a few weeks is crackers for him. He's not prepared himself for this at all.

Possibly but the fact is they were an established Premier side and suddenly disappeared into the Championship.

There is no dressing up the fact that we lost a game in which our opponents were down to ten men for over an hour. And were very nervous. And had no manager on the touch line. There is no way on earth that any well managed team could let Chelsea win that game. Yet we did. We are the gift that keeps on giving. Brendan Rodgers’ ever-obliging Leicester City.

Not one of our players today showed any sort of form. And our greatest ever player was an embarrassment.

The frustration and agony of this season just gets more unbearable by the week. It can only change with a new manager. The first few million of Fofana’s fee need to be spent to pay Rodgers off. Then we can all relax, breathe and find a way out of this malaise.

If youri wasn’t injured that was a bizarre substitution as he was having a good game and not the time to be holding back. Shame though as we created enough good chances to win that one. Barnes looked brighter today and castagne did his best on the right. I didn’t feel soumare or Praet grabbed the opportunity which is a disappointment and we did perk up when Kel and Perez came on.

I didn’t  feel we got the rub of the green today with that deflected shot by Sterling and the Perez one hitting the bar.  I thought Barnes disallowed goal was soft. Mendy didn’t do well there and ref saved him. Credit where it’s due - Reece james is some player.

Brendan Rodgers Post Match vs Chelsea

Wesley Fofana

“There’s nothing more to add on. I respect that there’ll be questions on it. But there’s nothing to add and when there is the club will announce anything.”

Getting players in before the transfer window closes

“There’s not a lot of time but it’s all a ‘what if’ at the moment. So we just have to wait until anything is confirmed. If any player leaves then we’ll want to strengthen the squad.”

On the defeat

“We should’ve at least had a point in the game. We started well and had a man sent off. It was a game of decisive moments. We gave away the first goal which really makes it tough for you when you’re playing against 10 men and then we gave away the second.”

Why Ndidi didn't start

“We wanted to come through the pitch quicker. Soumare has been great in training and he’s committed now to staying at the club, which is great. He allows us to play through the thirds quickly and that was the reason for him coming in instead.”

Soumare will not be leaving the club this transfer window

“There’s been a few clubs interested in him. He was very close to maybe going. He came to me the other day saying he was very keen to stay. He doesn’t want to end the story on the past year he’s had.”

The disallowed goal in the first half

“I thought it was a soft call. Tierney is a referee – in all due respect, over the last few years he’s let things go. I didn’t think it was a foul.”

Rodgers on game

“Yeah, it was very frustrating by the end not to have taken a point. We started well, Wardy has had to make a really good save but apart from that we looked a threat in the game. I was disappointed with the goal that was disallowed. The keeper has made a mistake in his timing to come for it. Barnesy is there, and he jumps out. For that to be disallowed was disappointing. We went to sleep at the beginning of the second half, we were too passive. We let them play through. We didn’t press the shot on the edge of the box. You go behind against 10 men, it can be difficult. But the spirit was really good, we created opportunities. We should have taken at least a point from the game, we had three one-on-ones and hit the bar. Then we play how you should play against 10 men, stretching the game but having numbers inside.”

Deal agreed for Fofana?

“I don’t have anything in all honesty. If there is anything, the club will announce that.”

Fofana played his last game for City?

“We shall see.”

Fofana situation a distraction?

“There’s no doubt that when the window shuts, everything calms down. It’s been a challenging window for us, there’s no doubt. We’ve been unable to add and there’s been speculation around a number of our top players. There’s no doubt that's been difficult. It will shut on Thursday and we can all move on. Everything will become calm again.”

Replacement lined up if Fofana goes?

“The club always has options. At this late stage, it can be difficult, but for any players that move on, there are always options there to come in.”

    1.7                                                    xG                                                      2.2

TBF, that's pretty good stats even against a 10 man Chelsea.

First time this season our XG has been above 1 as well.

Chelsea's XG is a bit high though considering they played with 10 for 70 mins.

Anyway, Brendan out.

Yeah he probably realised they were not paying as much after his poor performances last season

That was embarrassing.. we went 2-0 down against 10 men…

I think even the most ardent of Chelsea fans would say we deserved something from that.

Perfectly good goal disallowed, hit the bar, Vardy with two efforts he should have tucked away, good shot from Barnes well saved, two good efforts from Kel.

Doesn't spell embarrassing against a top quality side with better reserves to bring on, notwithstanding ten men.

Edit: Forgot the Castagne effort.

Had a huge opportunity at half time. They were down to ten, got drummed at Leeds last week, no Kante, no manager on the touchline.

We should have made two substitutions, partly to correct his nonsense line-up and partly to introduce some width to stretch the game.

Instead he does nothing. We concede the initiative. He ends up making two substitutions early in the second half.

Rodgers has no desire to take the game to the opposition at all.

I can’t see how we get out of this rut if I’m honest.

I think I prefer the close season more and more these days. Such a blot on match days when we lose so often. Hard to shake the frustration off. I really should know better at my age. Will have to remind myself that after winning league and Cup I would be more relaxed about this lark
