Don't think the mere consideration of another point of view should be considered "siding" with someone.

Just now, Matt said:

Not sure I’ve “sided” with him, I mean I literally said “I far from agree how he’s acted in this”.

Fair play - hmmm well how’s it feel to be chucked under the bus like Brendan does with so many times.

Whilst I think Fofana would have left regardless, not seeing eye to eye with Rodgers was clearly a factor and something that cannot be ignored.

I used "siding" because you clearly have an agenda against Rodgers. Most people, like me, want him out but with you there's always some deep meaning why something has heppened. Any manager would have done the same and, secondly, Fofona acted like a child and has proved it with this "farewell" post.

As proved with your "not seeing eye to eye with Rodgers". How have you come to that conlusion? You been knocking around the club? You act as if Rodgers has issues with players he wants rid of when you have no evidence for it. Plus most managers are the exact same. Piss Pearson off and you'd gone. And that's fine but because this is Rodgers, and you don't like him, it's different.

Rodgers was right though. Fofana's not acted professionally. He skipped training.

...going back to the Mahrez episode, when all was claiming that he was missing training, Mahrez claims that it had been agreed for him to take time out, in order to clear his head and focus on playing for us!!!

His not coming in may just be miscommunication, as to get his head clear and he believes the club was in agreement regarding his actions..

Percy get's so much right about us, if he says it's £70m with easy add-ons... then as far as I'm concerned that's the truth.

They're both guessing.

But how does his wages compare to the world’s highest-paid centre-backs?

Fbref, using data from Capology, recently named the 100 highest-paid players in the world.

After Fofana’s move, 18 centre-backs are now in the top 100 and you can view how much they earn below…

18. Mats Hummels | Borussia Dortmund | £165,430-per-week

17. Dayot Upamecano | Bayern Munich | £165,430-per-week

16. Andreas Christensen | Barcelona | £ 172,378-per-week

15. Gerard Piqué | Barcelona | £172,378-per-week

14. Harry Maguire | Manchester United | £190,000-per-week

13. Leonardo Bonucci | Juventus | £199,178-per-week

12. Wesley Fofana | Chelsea | £200,000-per-week (per the Daily Mail)

11. Virgil van Dijk | Liverpool | £220,000-per-week

10. Jules Kounde | Barcelona | £224,158-per-week

9. Marquinhos | Paris Saint-Germain | £238,220-per-week

8. John Stones | Manchester City | £250,000-per-week

7. Matthijs de Ligt | Bayern Munich | £264,688-per-week

6. Kalidou Koulibaly | Chelsea | £295,000-per-week

5. Presnel Kimpembe | Paris Saint-Germain | £300,752-per-week

4. Antonio Rudiger | Real Madrid | £310,182-per-week

3. Raphael Varane | Manchester United | £340,000-per-week

2. David Alaba | Real Madrid | £372,218-per-week

1. Sergio Ramos | Paris Saint-Germain | £451,128-per-week

Fofana has become the 12th highest-paid centre-back in the world.

He is now the Premier League’s fifth highest-paid centre-back, behind Varane, Koulibaly, Stones and Van Dijk.

Ramos, now 35, remains the world’s highest-paid centre-back. He earns a massive £451,128-per-week, which is considerably more than Alaba in second.

So on a 7 year contract they have basically guaranteed him nearly 73m in wages - imagine that is before bonuses etc :nigel:

The game have gone!

He owed us nothing, we a rich club, went and forced his previous less rich club to sell... 2 years later, a rich club came to us and forced us to sell.

Excluding the last month, he did everything we expected and paid for.

Disappointed weve lost an amazing talent, onward now

And there it is.

Whatever we say about. How ever bad he made it happened. How ever disrespectful he was. He has made the absolute right decision for his career.

Did he? Surely we can’t say that until he actually proves himself there. He had one good season with us, and spent pretty much the rest of last season injured… then was garbage when asked to play this season. We will see how this goes

He backs himself. Good on him. What’s the alternative ? Stay here and hope to one day get to that level ? Fofana is an excellent player. We all said that while he was here. That

is the environment he is meant to be in

Unfortunately his actions in the last month have contributed to us being bottom of the table, struggling badly. So he did owe us to be professional before his move away. Sadly he decided that this didn’t matter to him.

Some of you on life support over a couple of million quid on the fee.

Perfectly reputable journalist with more connections in his bedside table than this whole forum tweets something.

Foxestalk: “Bullshit! No way we only got that much for him! They must be lying! What do they know?”.

One more season would have been nice, rather than throwing the toys out the pram and acting like a ****ing ****, all that after we stuck by him last season helping him back from injury and giving him a new contract. If he backs himself then he would have proven himself further here and got his move. Anyway he will do the same at Chelsea once real show interest

With Mahrez we ended up keeping him until the following window even with him missing training.  Was sold early the following summer, and we ended up having one of our best windows, whilst in this case Fofana is done final day and now we will be rushing around.

Rodgers does seem to get a lot of players take shots at him. Seem to recall Sterling and Dembele had their bust ups with him.

Wonder what goes on for that to happen?

Maybe Rodgers doesn't like players who force moves away by refusing to be part of the club that is paying their wages.

To be fair, I never got to vibrate with him.

I look forward to seeing him get done by a striker with quick feet….Martinelli had him on toast and he’s not peak Messi.

He clearly improves our starting 11 but a douche so we move on.

Deep down he’s jealous that he never got a chant about his d1ck like Cags 😜

People need to not be so angry. We signed him for 35m, he played 36 games for us and we sold him for 80m approx. people talk about only making 25m profit but selling him so going to help us out of a big hole.

Your last point is spot on. Our business model is selling a big player once a season. It never happened last season and it was supposed to be Youri this summer. Nobody came in for him and as the window closed, we were as desperate as Chelsea to get the deal done. There's a lot of uncertainty at the club, financially we look a mess.

Sort of mirrors the point I have been making for some while.

The fee , whatever it is , will be significantly reduced when you factor in the % that is retained by the FA ( it was 5% but I can’t remember if that was increased ) WF will be paid the balance of his signing on fee, he probably will also get a % of the profit, Saint Etinnee will get a % but as he is only 21 all those clubs that he was registered with as a youth will be paid training compensation

EDIT.
The PL levy is 4% nett of VAT and the training compensation is 5% of the fee although it’s complicated somewhat because of his age

I imagine you're like me in that as soon as I'd watched him for 4 or 5 games, I knew he wasn't going to be around for long.

Incredibly good footballer. Clearly a total bellend though.

Looking forward to his leaving statement in 2 years when Madrid/Barca come knocking.

Maybe you’re onto something, but I never truly took to him in that sense. Same duration as maguire and I look more fondly on him even though we were worse during that time

What about the fee? Does 7 years mean we only 10 a year?
