That was our best chance of getting a slightly better fee for him. He’ll leave for a completely nominal fee now and we’ll be up paying a % of his wages no doubt.

 

Another player we’ll have spent something like £25m all told and receive about £500k back for. 
 

Take that sum and principally it means for every £1 we spend on fees and wages and Rudkin manages to turn it into £0.02  - remarkable. Never mind the opportunity costs associated.

He must have been paid enough over the time he's been here for him to buy his contract out and just clear off, he's been trying to get out for a couple of years now.

Had the chance to force his agent to get him out of here and take less than he was ideally looking for with a World Cup on the horizon last summer.


Should’ve had him sat in the stand staring down the very real possibility he’d have a season of zero minutes and would wave goodbye to his World Cup hopes unless he lowered his wage demands and his agent and Rudkin peddled him round Europe at a price someone thought was worth a punt.

 

Instead, best Rudkin could achieve was a loan with an option that’s now not being exercised. Monaco must be delighted with themselves.

 

We’ll not even get a fee. He’ll end up somewhere on loan for the final year of his contract so someone can test drive whether they want him for nothing next summer. And we’ll be paying at least 50% of his wage whilst we have the pleasure of having him still on our books.

I would rather have none of the CBs bar Harry and Ben but if he’s still here I prefer to see him rotate with those two than have to endure JV standing on the ball only to pass backwards and hearing the Microsoft restart music when Okoli passes to an unmarked opponent. 

 

I know it’s like debating which animal has the least stinky shit and I don’t trust the club to get anyone decent in or a loan player that isn’t injured.

I reckon he will just blame our decline for his fall off. He won't correlate any of the 3 relegations in 4 years to himself. Just like Winks won't. In their heads they'll always be top players ruined by a toxic club. 

 

The sad thing is we have a thread on here even daring to turn this on the fanbase too. When you have your own fans being gaslit into thinking they're the problem then you can absolutely guarantee everything apart from the players themselves is the issue to them.
