He doesn’t need to be amazing really. He only needs to be an average PL defender and he’d make a huge difference over Amartey tbf

Brexit innit. Hiring non-British or Irish citizens or settled British residents is going to be like this now. And I doubt there’s many specialised set piece coaches in this country who aren’t already hired by bigger clubs

Everything I've read and seen now of Faes would point towards him being a player who loves to battle. He won't yet be shrouded in the crisis of confidence our defenders and squad have, so hopefully he can lift the rest of them in to a bit of collective resilience and fight. 

 

Goal on his debut too

Reading that GFFN report, I'm not sure how he's going to help us progress the ball forward and play a high line like Rodgers wants us to. His aerial duel and passing success rates don't look great either...he's certainly not a Fofana replacement, which is odd.

 

Really want him to do well, I'm just incredibly worried we're going to be Vestergaard-ed again (sorry, Wout!)

Going to be watching with interest, defenders stats can be very volatile depending on the team and style they play for. He's certainly not in the bottom 8% of defenders who head the ball, no way. Likewise Reims don't play out from the back in the same philosophy that we do, so it will be a let's see what he's like but it doesn't seem an obvious like for like replacement given how dominant Fofana was in the two areas we so badly need.

Quite a left field signing, very few people have heard of him or seen him play and 15M for us, is quite a lot to spend on a speculative signing. Let's hope he's better then his stats show.
