I think this is one of the problems. Our best formation has always been 4231. We got in the top 5 two seasons running playing it.

 

We went to 433 last year which gets KDH in the team who was very good but it plays Youri out of position - he is not an 8, he is a deeplying playmaker. Also it shifts maddison to 8 or on the wing where he is not at his best.

 

Therefore for the balance of the team I think only one of KDH or Youri can play in our best system which is 4231 - and Youri is better in that position than KDH

We do that and ruin players imo, I know Vardy is the goat but it’s time he was a squad player, Daka didn’t come here to warm the bench. Look at Toney this season, it takes time for these strikers, but you only get that by playing.

I like that nacho shoots whenever there’s a sniff, it creates an element of panic in the oppositions defence and opens up space. We need to see full backs getting forward overlapping as well, more players in the box.

Don't mind the Vardy exclusion because of fitness. We constantly bemoan that players aren't looked after so if Vardy can't hack 3 games in 8 days then it makes sense to not play him and rest him. 

 

Not playing KDH or Castagne is odd.

Not really a big call as Vardy cannot play 3 games a week. Only played on Thursday and to play again is asking for him to get injured or burnt out. I'd be more suprised if he played him.

Vardy hasn’t exactly set the world alight. 
 

It’s the inclusion of Thomas and the constant neglect of Soyuncu that baffles me. 
 

For 18 - 24 months, he was our best centre back and Rodgers may have well have taken him out to the tool shed.

It’s safe to say, Castagne is thought highly of on here, however he’s steady but since his arrival, he hasn’t exactly improved the defence in terms of actually defending.

Jury is out on tielemens, if he doesn’t put a shift in today Rodger’s needs to do something with him, today is not for strolling around looking for a million dollar through ball. KDH against UTD was poor in the first half but he did step it up in the second and carried the ball. I’d be more inclined to have played KDH with tielemens today, Soumare still has a lot to prove for me

Also, Castagne / Justin is a lot more versatile in game than Justin. 
 

If they drop to a 1 up top, it’s easier to switch to a back three and push Wilf forward to occupy that space between the midfield and attack.
