He was poor. Needs to go out on loan to develop I think. That's your opinion. There are more than just a few people who thought Thomas did OK. Me included. 5

Edingleyfox Posted 4 September 2022 Posted 4 September 2022 Perhaps think of this as a cup game- PSV away. Most importantly need to remain positive even if we get an early setback and plan a team and substitutes that can play full on for 95 minutes.

ARM1968 Posted 4 September 2022 Posted 4 September 2022 Think this will be interesting. Will Brendan finally put the ‘distraction’ of the transfer window behind him, or will he double down on trying to get the sack? Can’t see us winning, but stranger things have happened and we need it.
Popular Post RowlattsFox Posted 4 September 2022 Popular Post Posted 4 September 2022 Thomas isn't helped by being chucked in for a game every now and again, usually against decent sides too. He seems like a lad who will follow what he's told, so probably by Rodgers likes him, even it's to his own detriment. 5
Happy Fox Posted 4 September 2022 Posted 4 September 2022 Ndidi at CB doesn’t fill me with much confidence tbh, I would rather play Cags at the back. Brighton will get joy for sure with our defense as a collective whole, only positive is two strikers upfront would have preferred Kelechi and Vardy but Kelechi and Daka should be okay, and hopefully they can combine to get a goal or two.
StanSP Posted 4 September 2022 Posted 4 September 2022 Had a dream we played a few youngsters, Castagne got sent off early on but we won 1-0.

Thing is when we do decide to go forward we look good , but then our forward movement across the front line means we don’t create anything. Believe it all comes back to the manager Said it countless times, Thomas is a rabbit in headlights going forward, and never makes the overlapping run to take a player away from Barnes. It’s that painful it even makes me miss Jordan Stewart. 1

foxfanazer Posted 4 September 2022 Posted 4 September 2022 We're doomed I tell thee! Should be like a training match for Broghton today

But he was playing as a full back? Not a wing back. Played in a 4? So that's no excuse. His positional play is awful.

His positional play is awful. I went through this in another thread, it was what Rodgers had us working on in pre-season and Thomas was doing as Rodgers wanted. Playing as an inverted wing back/full back/left back etc., pushing forward past Barnes on the inside to create a narrow overload. The issue wasn’t Thomas doing that, it was seemingly that Rodgers had made no plans for anyone to cover the space being left by him or by JJ on the right. Edited 4 September 2022 by moore_94 1
Lionator Posted 4 September 2022 Posted 4 September 2022 There’d be no reason not to play Faes today right? 2

Pre season he was working on that with a back 5. Once Ricky P got injured that scuppered his plans. Thomas even when going forward was terrible. He was supposed to be a full back not a wing back vs Man U. He was caught in no man's land more than once and you cannot excuse that.
