He'll be starved of service. We'll play it comfortably around their box, restricted to long-distance shots. Amartey will be the cause of a howler and a mix-up between he and Ward. Ndidi will get sent off for 2 bookings. Faes sat on the bench all game with the defence on the pitch looking like Sunday League footballers. We'll concede from a corner - Lewis Dunk probably. Rodgers will bring on Daka with about 10 minutes to go. Maddison will be subbed off even though he's the only one doing anything. Post-game, Rodgers will go on about lack of transfers again, whilst stating that the players chosen aren't doing enough and the players on the bench, ironically, weren't also doing enough to get on the pitch. Probably right but if he's in full troll mode we can expect Thomas instead of Castagne.
Swarles Barkley Posted 2 September 2022 Posted 2 September 2022 I wonder when the last time was when we beat someone when according to form/talent we should not have? Maybe Liverpool last year but we were home and had players on form
oxtonfox Posted 2 September 2022 Posted 2 September 2022 It’s the Stowell effect. If Brendan goes we get a result. If he stays we will get beat. Enough said. 1

Diamond with Kel and Daka up top. @StanSP knows, although he seems to have had the cheek to play Soumare as CDM again whilst Wilf is not in defence, so could play in his ordained position (Must say I agree with that as Bouba was alright last time I thought) If Vardy starts, gets no service and we are losing, I can see him doing a two footed challenge, getting sent off and kicking a few water bottles as he walks past Brendan without looking at him. Personally I think he will gamble and put Nacho/Daka alongside Perez. He’s running out of time so I think he will gamble.

In his post match interview it was clear that Castagne is the one carrying the can for 10 goals conceded in the first 4 games. He's obviously not noticed the role that Amartey and Ward have played in that. Amartey would no doubt have started last night if he'd not been ill.

It’s hard to keep Justin in and drop Tim based on form, so I think it’s Brendan’s favourites who get picked. 6
Md9 Posted 2 September 2022 Posted 2 September 2022 If vardy plays he has to play with nacho to help him out not fair on him to keep playing up top on his own when we can’t get him any service . It won’t happen but it should. 2

Would certainly make good TV, and Vardy will be interesting if he ever gives an account of this period.

I imagine amartey will be straight back in the side on Sunday. Can't see him starting the new bloke for a while yet. 1

I said the same, although I thought it might be JJ dropping out and Castagne in at RB, Thomas normally has a decent link up with KDH and Barnes on the left side. 7 hours ago, The Horse's Mouth said: Call me absolutely bloody mad, but I think we’ll win this I think we'll get at least a point too. We're owed something for that VAR farce last season.

It won’t happen but it should. ....I do feel Barnes should be upfront with him or Nacho!!! We tend to get Barnes involved for 20-25 minutes total in a game, he starts out well and just drifts out of the game with little service and he gets too much attention as there is little coming from our right. We need Barnes engaged for at least 60 minutes in games, and we need him involved and looking to find space or create space as a decoy for his partner. Getting Jeremie Boga in would have added a lot to this team, we had the opportunity of an inverted winger who is not as conventional as Barnes, as Barnes really does not have the instincts or devilment of a genuine winger. He is good at picking the ball up when he is in motion but not from standing where he normally elects to playback, because of instructs or due to what is available in front of him.
TrentFox Posted 3 September 2022 Posted 3 September 2022 Even though I’ve been saying for weeks Vardy needs a partner or dropping ….. I’m putting him up top on his own- but Barnes and Madders told to stick VERY close. On balance, they offer more goal threat than either spare striker. So Ward Faes Ndidi Evans Justin Tielemans KDH Castagne Madders Barnes Vardy
Tom12345 Posted 3 September 2022 Posted 3 September 2022 (edited) Ward (though I prefer Iversen) Castagne Evans Faes Justin (or Justin and Thomas as full backs) Soumare Tielemans Maddison Nacho Barnes Vardy Notes: - Nacho has to start. We can no longer play clueless lone striker system with Vardy alone up top not getting any help and no one sending those early balls to him - If Faes is not ready then Soyuncu please otherwise he is done - We definitely cannot have Ndidi starting in midfield (enough said about him already being a handicap for us there) Edited 3 September 2022 by Tom12345

Happy Fox Posted 3 September 2022 Posted 3 September 2022 If Nacho doesn’t start I hope Vardy decks Rodgers. We are useless with one upfront and no Ndidi at CB it’s comical he’s not a CB play him in his best position.
FoxesWalk Posted 3 September 2022 Posted 3 September 2022 (edited) Should be this 442 diamond: Iversen Castagne, Faes, Evans, Justin Ndidi Soumare, KDH Maddison Daka, Iheanacho Will actually be this 433…. Ward Justin, Faes, Evans, Thomas Tielemans, Ndidi, KDH Barnes, Vardy, Maddison We will likely be picked to pieces by them since they are actually a well coached side and high on confidence after a great start. They are the anti-thesis to us, they create lots of chances and don’t concede many. Edited 3 September 2022 by FoxesWalk
UniFox21 Posted 3 September 2022 Posted 3 September 2022 Whatever side it is, I just expect them to go out there and actually give a shit. I expect to see them press and make life bloody difficult for Brighton.
goose2010 Posted 3 September 2022 Posted 3 September 2022 How anyone isn't picking Soumare isn't picking out strongest team. He was our best playing Monday and should start over any of our midfielders 1

fox_favourite Posted 3 September 2022 Posted 3 September 2022 Brighton are one of the teams I like and what we should be or were. Shame we face them now. Can only see a loss with our lack of creativity, goals and flat confidence. But one scrappy, ugly and bad win could change that. Even the new guy starting might give a boost. Yup…I’m clutching those straws.
