Well it’s quite obvious isn’t it? If you play on a Saturday, people come into the city centre before a game and after a game. That’s not just pubs or restaurants but the general footfall of a city - things like taxis, shopping centres etc get more trade because some behaviours mean other members of family follow them into the city.

If you play midweek, there’s a pocket of two hours from the traditional closing times of work to kick off. So at best places get trade of two hours while there is very little trade post match.

We are heading into a winter of real crisis for businesses. They’d choose the ability to take trade now than have it in March or even worse mid Winter when people definitely midweek leave home/go home.

Ok - I have said that there is a difference potentially but nowhere near the magnitude that you may think - so many different factors - how about all the people in Leicester who avoid going into town during match days due to traffic etc - now they may all go ahead into town - so many different factors and you cannot just base it on "well people are off on weekend's ain't they!"

Right Top. Given next week's game is likely to be off please pull the trigger and get rid of Brendan. The next game after Spurs is Forest at home on the 3rd of October. ****ing ages away. Near enough time to have a pre-season.

So you're mad that they left it up to the league/clubs and they chose to do it?

Yes because there’s absolutely no need for anything to be cancelled.

More to life than mourning the death of 96 year old as a mark of “respect” as well.

Let people continue with their lives and show their respects as they chose to, not force people to cancel plans with no logical explanation other than “respect”.

Whether we like it or not the monarchy is a British institution. It's not just about 'the death of a 96 year old.'

Yeah and you’d think that’s exactly an area where having kids meet, have a moments silence and therefore talk it through is far more useful than kids sat at home, bored cos the lack of options in activity are reduced.

My lads first ever match was scheduled for Sunday. Where was it reported? Just checking with the coach as I thought kiddies footy was still on.

Young lad was buzzing yesterday morning for the ‘weekend of football’. Training sat morning, LCFC Saturday afternoon and his match Sunday.

For info. When the local authority did research, they said LCFC match days at weekend make the local economy grow at approx £200k per game

And she’ll receive 10 days of national mourning with a multi million pound funeral paid by the taxpayer?

What has that got to do with do with football fixtures being postponed? Government has already said it’s fair game to all governing bodies

What’s with all the explanation marks? Are you annoyed that people spend time with their friends and family at the football?

In case it's not obvious - I am annoyed at people complaining so hard that a football match has been postponed and complaining that they have literally nothing else to do or now they have lost the time with their friends or family - the loss of money I sympathise with completely - most other things people are complaining for the sake of complaining

Maybe they feel there is a need :dunno:

They are only doing it in case a minority of people are offended if it goes ahead, that’s why people are annoyed.

Compared to what figure on weekdays - even if the figure is £50k on weekdays (which I assume it's more) - £150k over all the businesses is a drop in the ocean
