Looking at our results this season so far, and comparing with the table, I don’t think we’re doing quite as badly as is generally perceived. Certainly not well, but if we accept that we aren’t in the top bracket any more, things are only a bit below what might be expected.

4 of our losses were against rich 6 sides. Yes in previous seasons we’ve still managed to pick up points, but losses are still the expected result. A draw away at Brentford, a mid table team is also not out of the ordinary. Brighton are doing exceptionally well this season and again, an away loss might be expected.

This only leaves the dropped 3 points against Southampton. Yes that would certainly put us in a better position, and some of our losses have been big, but it’s quite possible that we now go on a run. Anyway let’s hope :fc:

...what you are doing is, talking this team down!!!

We have Rodgers for that, and he is wrong.

Never mind carping about a refresh,  this team is good enough to compete for top 6.

This is not being entitled, it is a realistic goal that we can achieve,  let's stop selling ourselves short.

Ndidi out,Mendy also out .!!

Yeah just seen that. I didn’t realise when I posted it. Bouba better turn up. Could be the making of him   I hope so. I thought he did well on Monday. Just give it all and track back. You’re a long time old with time to rest up.

Big Bouba Soumare starting then

Good. I think he’s looked really good recently. Offers more than Ndidi. Give him a run and let him make the shirt his own.

They need the points too so this will need to be classic Leicester counter attack. Stay tight and pick them off.

Trouble is, it's the staying tight bit that bothers me.

....not sure we are going to play them on the counter when they are unwilling to come at us!!!

We will probably have Soumare being covered by KDH who will be the central defensive anchor.

I think it's now becoming a bit clearer what the deliberation was with Soumare back end of last season and this summer on being unsure on wanting to stay in England, he's got a baby back in France by the sounds of it.

Laughable about Ndidi, Soumare was set to start as Ndidi was struggling with his hamstring from being away with Nigeria and then they throw him in last minute and he aggravates it again. We still don't learn do we, or should we say Brendan and colleagues don't learn. Infuriating.

Yeah but it's all bad luck apparently.

I could tolerate players being out but they are demonstrably worse from this. I feel that above all is why Ndidi has gone backwards.

Very concerned about this considering how an awful Notts team drove a coach and horses through our defence twice. Faes still learning and Captain Jonny is no longer the player he was. No confidence in Soumare, have we ever won a game when he started?

A draw would be reasonable.

What does he offer more than Ndidi? or, at least, an Ndidi that’s not carrying an injury?

I guess I’ll context the question:

I know what an in-form Ndidi offers, I know what Mendy offers, I know what KDH offers, Tielemans, Maddison … even Hamza Choudhury. I don’t know what BS brings: he can’t pass as well as YT, he doesn’t carry the ball as well as KDH and isn’t a CDM like Ndidi or Mendy.

If I could see what his modus operandi was I’d get more excited about him playing. At the moment he does a lot of things, but not as well as other players and is positionally poor.

I don’t want to be negative about players and love to be proven wrong, but I’m just waiting for him to show that one thing that makes me understand where he fits. Even a very limited player like Mendy has an obvious role and benefit to the team.

Soumare will no doubt get the chance against Bournemouth. I’m sincerely hoping he’ll show something that makes me understand what role he can do that improves the team. I’d like not to be nervous the next time I see his name on the team sheet.

Rodgers has turned the corner, has learnt a bit of humility, and is setting the team up for a successful season.

We’ll do Bournemouth 3-0, and go on to finish 8th.

Top will invest in the club in the summer, Tielemans will leave, and we’ll finish 2023/24 back in the champions league places, pipping a Youri powered Spurs side to 4th place :scarf:

I think a few people are in for a shock after getting carried away with us beating a very poor and disorganised team with a deflection and 3 worldies.

Exactly. 0-2 loss, 70% possession. Brendan goes home happy and anyone unfortunate enough to travel all the way to the South Coast does not.

...you wonder if the supporters of Lille were saying the same thing while going on to win the league!!!

Perhaps the player playing beside him understands what is required to dovetail with him and make it work. We are going to keep having this conversation until he leaves, he is neither a DM nor a creative CM, he is a hybrid in a game where positions appear to be absolute.

Well I doubt they’d be having much of a debate whilst they were in the process of winning the league. Just as we didn’t debate much the quality of Danny Drinkwater, although I suspect the fans of his next club did.

Maybe it is a matter of finding the right balance? Perhaps he might thrive in some sort of double pivot with one sitting whilst the other one presses. I guess it would either be alongside YT or KDH with the odd one out playing higher up the pitch?

Brendan and learning humility don't really go

Learning from his mistakes will be a start

I think he will really improve this year. Many players take time to adapt and I believe we'll start to see what he's capable of this campaign

They play the most defensive brand of football in the league. Will be tough to break down but fancy us to get a win here

Get Madders to dive outside the box a few times and we’ll be fine 😂

Brendan still under the spot light for me. Messes this up then we know where we are at. Key for me is how the defence shapes up and most notably Ward. Needs to stay calm under pressure and no flapping!

Ndidi is the worst passer of a ball we have. He’s useless on the ball. He wins so many tackles in a game because he’s receiving the ball when he loses it. Soumare keeps the ball and moves the play on.

To me Soumare is a far more complete player. He needs time to settle in and develop in the team. Ndidi is well past his best and has been for a few years now.
