Yes it's a tough choice. Vardy has legend status so psychologicaly it probably boosts the team but Daka put such a good shift in.

Perhaps we could see them as interchangeable as opposed to one over the other. Keep them both fresh and alternate playing 60mins 30mins each week based on opposition.

Wish I'd know for FPL purposes lol

Daka at 5.7 is such a good pick with our fixture run if you knew whether he'd start

Maddison will often be an xG outlier because he is without doubt one of the best long range finishers in the league, if not Europe. Its why he's such a regular scorer even if he plays out of position where he isn't at the fulcrum of where the ball lands inside the box. He still scores his fair share of goals you'd expect a player to dispatch (see Norwich at home, Watford away and Southampton at home in those final few games of the season).

He's the one player I have no concerns about long term that the style of play of him or the team means he will drop off his effectiveness, he is borderline elite level now and getting to Mahrez standards in producing such quality almost on his own.

God help us if he picks up an injury.

Daka needs to start

I'm pretty confident he will. Vardy wasn't first choice before the Forest game and Daka and Iheanacho had both scored goals to warrant their continued selection.

Let's he honest, Vardy was drafted back in for a key game because he's talismanic and Rodgers felt it was needed. It was probably the right call, he did okay, lead by example and set up Barnes but the way Daka come off the bench and carried straight back on I'm pretty sure he'll be back in the starting lineup.

The Forest game was always going to feel like a cup final and Vardy was the right man to start it. Daka is the right man to start at Bournemouth.

Maddison - xG 1.31 - 5 goals

Zaha - xG 3.08 - 4

Toney - xG 4.44 - 5 goals

Mitrovic - xG 4.53 - 6 goals

All 4 exceeding their statistical probabilities, but there's a clear outlier in overperformance.

We didn't really go at Forest a great deal, they were simply very unorganised. We'll face a tigher unit in Bournemouth and you'll see us revert back to "controlling" the game.

I think this is spot on but.... Hate to say it... If it is then great move by Rodgers in selecting him!

There, l said it (gritted teeth)

But l do think Daka or Kels should start and Vardy on for 20 - 25 mins depending on the situation. Losing - bring him on,

Winning.... Yeah still bring him on f**k it, it's Vardy!

Gonna be honest my gut instinct is that Monday was about Forest more than us. I mean we've got the quality in the side to win these games and we showed that, but we still showed vulnerability for me even against them.

But I prepare to be proven wrong.

Looking at our results this season so far, and comparing with the table, I don’t think we’re doing quite as badly as is generally perceived. Certainly not well, but if we accept that we aren’t in the top bracket any more, things are only a bit below what might be expected.

4 of our losses were against rich 6 sides. Yes in previous seasons we’ve still managed to pick up points, but losses are still the expected result. A draw away at Brentford, a mid table team is also not out of the ordinary. Brighton are doing exceptionally well this season and again, an away loss might be expected.

This only leaves the dropped 3 points against Southampton. Yes that would certainly put us in a better position, and some of our losses have been big, but it’s quite possible that we now go on a run. Anyway let’s hope :fc:

We seem far too confident on here.

I'm readying myself for a return to pre international fixture form ...

Hope I'm being unnecessary pessimistic.

Brentford was at home, after going up 2-0. That was caused by bad management after a really good start. Southampton are complete gash. Chelsea were there for the taking for at least a draw after going down to 10 men.  Man U barely looked like they had turned up.

There is something in what you say, but we should have picked up at least an additional 4 points in there from the easier games, and we could have picked up maybe 1 more point from Chelsea or Man U.  The fact we didn’t came from everything from management downwards  being all over the place. Rodger’s behaving like a child and the team clearly not being fit and ready.

Bournemouth is a must win still. After this run of fixtures I dont want to be in the bottom 3. If we are, then it’s real trouble for us.

Anyone care to recommend a decent pre match pub that serves real ale and welcomes away fans?

Very slim pickings around the ground - you'd be as well to drink in Bournemouth and then get a bus/taxi to Boscombe

This is still a make or break game for Rodgers. Monday's win bought him just one more game and a return to losing ways at Bournemouth would probably see him sacked. If we win he might get a little bit of breathing space, however.

Hopefully O'Neil's little honeymoon period is over. I'm surprised they've taken so long to replace Parker

Did Ndidi go off injured on Monday? Didn't watch the game. If not then its unchanged for me, well I would change Ward but not going to happen. We need a bit of consistency in selection.

Whilst I get the sentiment, this is trying to spin it in a beyond positive manner. As has been pointed out below, it's the nature of those results and performances that highlight how dreadful a start it's been, in spite of some tough fixtures.

While results have looked decent for them under O’Neil, they’ve had an easy run.

0-0 with a poor Wolves side

3-2 win at what we now know is an awful Forest side

1-1 at Newcastle, fair play - decent result

0-0 at home to Brentford.

Expect us to dominate the ball and score, just got to tighten the defence up more. An in form Ndidi as that shield in front of Evans and Faes would be a massive help.

Just hope we are on the front foot and if we happen to take the lead not to sit back. Win here and the momentum should propel us higher with the games coming up. As always though , away games a point is not a bad result but this feels like an opportunity for us to mode away from the crisis club status we have before Monday night.

Dont worry, we've got front foot football for another 3/4 games yet.

Come Man City we'll be back to the football we all know and love...
