...I  have 2 theories..!!!

1. The club have set a target of 10 points from the first 10 games. A point a game will keep us up so it is a reasonable barometer. Having lost to Bournemouth, the decision has already been made and we are allowing him the 10th game.

2. Khun Top will not sack him but give him the opportunity to "Refresh" the squad next season, when a lot of contracts will expire, so we have him for the rest of the season, or until Rodgers gets a better offer and chooses to leave.

Let's hope the former is the right one, it is hard to take much more of this.

1) Sorry what kind of mental target is that to be setting? lol

2) If that happens, we'll have the nicest stadium in league one in a few years.

Brendan Rodgers Pre-Match Press Conference vs Crystal Palace

Team news

“We’ve had a couple of players who haven’t trained so much. Mendy and Praet have come back in. Evans we will have to assess before the game. He’s got a tight calf. Apart from that, it’s been a good week.”

Evans

“He’s a fantastic player and the club captain. If he’s not ready, we’ll have the players to come in.”

Morale

“There’s no change. This is a great coaching challenge. It’s not where we want to be. We’re disappointed with the result last week. Through to the first 60 minutes, we were very good, but then it’s the details. It’s concentration and those basics of the game that has stopped us getting the points. It’s been bitterly disappointing. I have to get the team ready. The spirit has been very good. My dedication is to the players. We’re ready to go again at home.”

Pressure

“The noise and the pressure is from the outside. You understand it’s there and when you’re bottom of the league, it comes on to you. My job is still the same, to get the team out of the situation we’re in. We played really well and then we didn’t back that up at Bournemouth and now we have two home games.”

Crucial set of games?

“We felt that. It really is the next game. Our full concentration is on Palace. We know in this period that we needed to get results after the start we had.”

Taking lead and then losing?

“That’s the challenge in terms of coaching. It’s concentration. Sixty minutes into the game and we have a throw-in, we switch off, and they throw it up the line. It’s the basics of tracking the runner. There’s nothing tactical in that. It’s a fundamental.”

Leaders?

“Communication definitely helps. If you’re not talking then you’re not defending.”

Palace?

“They’ve shifted their football idea last season. They’ve got some good players and they’re athletic. They will pose a test to what we’ve had before. They try to build the game from the goalkeeper. They have two centre-halves who are comfortable. Young Eze, he’s a fantastic player. His quality in how he carries the ball. Odsonne is a very clever footballer, I know him well. They’re a good team who are not too far ahead of us. From where we are to mid-table, it’s close. But we have to get the results.”

Atmosphere difference to Forest?

“The onus is on as the team to generate that atmosphere. In our last game, we saw it and that came from the players. That connection between the supporters was there. 12.30s can be difficult games. But we have to generate intensity to bring them along with us.”

Fan mood?

“The mood will have been better after the Forest game. Our job is to lift the mood again. There is lots of noise and speculation. For me, within the inside, we’re very dedicated to moving away from where we are. We need patience and support. I believe in the players.”

Why struggling late on?

“We’ve looked at it to see if it’s fitness. There’s a process that we need to put right.”

Why not thinking about relegation?

“My focus is always on moving forward. I believe we can do that with the players they have. I do recognise where we are.”

40 point target?

“I was realistic in terms of where I thought we were at. I recognise the importance of staying in the division.”

Owners’ expectations?

“I think they felt it would be a tough season, on the back end of the summer, the challenges we faced and the difficulties we had, without the improvement in the squad. They have trust I can steer us through this period. They’ve been very supportive because they’ve seen the work in our time here. The expectation is to be the best we can be.”

Faes?

“He’s come in and settled very well. He’s got real experience for a young guy. He understands very quickly the demands of the Premier League. I’m sure he’ll be a very good player for us. He’s a fighter, he’s a leader, he’s got a good football idea.”

Soyuncu and Vestergaard?

“You need a 25-man squad and these are guys that are training. I see them every day. They’ve worked well and worked hard.”

Soumare?

“With Bouba, it’s not with the ball, without the ball are the key messages for him. He can run out of pressure, he takes the ball in pressure. It’s recognising the other side of the game. It’s anticipating situations, rather than reacting.”

Home games?

“No matter where you are, it’s always important, but given situation, it will be vital. Everyone was talking about it being toxic, but I don’t think about that. I want to produce a team that will give the supporters a good feeling. Hopefully we can produce a performance that gets the fans right behind the team. Hopefully we can try to replicate the Forest game.”

On Crystal Palace

“It’s a good game, they shifted their football idea last season when Patrick came in. They will pose another test for us, similar to what we’ve had before, so we have to be at a good level. They’re a good team who are not too far ahead of us. I anticipate a tight game and a tough game.”

Key to a strong performance

“The challenge is looking to put it all together. We’ve had one 90 minutes (against Nottingham Forest) when it was really good for us. It’s having the intensity and concentration to do that again.”

Fans’ importance

“The onus is on us as the team to generate that atmosphere as we did in our last home game, then the connection between the supporters and players was there. From the inside we’re very dedicated to moving away from where we are.”

Points Targets

He said he doesn't set targets, and that it is really "easy" to have the "laser focus on the next game"

He set the 40 point target at the start of the season, because that's where he "believed the team is at". The Foxes boss insists he's still not thinking about relegation.

Someone puts a lie to him that HE TOLD and then he spins it to how he didn’t quite mean it that way. He’s an utter snake this guy.

The only way he turns this around is by wishing his nephew Zak a happy birthday. I’d rate him for that.

Sorry, Brendan but the Notts F atmosphere didn't come from the players. It was cranked up by the fans before the players arrived on the pitch. The players kept the atmosphere positive by putting in the effort otherwise it would've been very different.

Crystal Palace aren’t that far ahead of us. My word.

IF we were to beat them then we'd be 2 points behind them. They aren't far ahead of us in that sense.

A process?

What kind of response is that after the first part of the answer?

I doubt Evans plays. When he's been a doubt before, and played, he's ended up being subbed.

The comments about Soyuncu give me hope that he's being considered. But it's about 1% hope at this point.

I'd like to see Faes and Soyuncu together compared to Faes and Amartey.

I just don't trust Amartey at all. Far too clumsy. And for a manager that really slams home the message about focus and concentration, Amartey isn't the one to show it.

This happened in the first game of the season and has been repeated in nearly every game since (except Forest and arguably Chelsea who had 10 men anyway). `I agree with you, this is no response at all. If it had been identified after Brentford it should have been addressed and fixed by game 2 or 3. This guy is a joke of a manager spieling this rubbish week after week

I'm not sure if I've only just twigged this, but if you didn't know he was British you could easily read that as a Spanish coach learning English through football buzzwords.

'a good football idea'

So, there was a reason why Vestergaard played in the under 23's the other day...

And proceeded to score an own goal on the way to a 7-0 defeat lol lol

If anything that should be enough evidence to show that he shouldn't be trusted in a senior team.

Jonny on one leg is definitely a better option.

To be honest Stan, having been there, the Own Goal was the least offensive thing he did, standard unavoidable sticking a leg out would have been tapped in anyway type situation.

It was the getting caught in possession, falling over, kicking the ball out of play in a panic and general sluggishness against quick players that was shocking

It really is time for BR to show us, the fans, that he is prepared to swallow some pride and make changes, take some risks, show some balls and experiment. If I was Brendan I would honestly go with:

Iversen

Amartey Soyuncu Faes

Albrighton Tilelemans KDH Castagne

Maddison

Daka Barnes

this is a very flexible system, which can flick-flack between 3-4-1-2 and 4-2-3-1, very easily, depending on what phase of play you are in

Really BR has nothing to lose at this point. If he loses this game, and he does something like the above, he can go out by saying "well I tried everything", if he wins, he looks like a genius who had the balls to change things up, as required.
