One thing that looked concerning between conceding and scoring the first, was the complete lack of cohesion on the pitch. They looked like 11 strangers rather than a squad

We should have won by more.. So I don’t really get where you are coming from?

Well each opinion to their own. We had a couple of good chances second half and played better second half, but first half we were inferior and as I've said a better side would have at least been 2 up in that 25 mins after their goal where we went to pieces. We also have away daft fouls like the one for Neves free kick which nearly cost us. I'm very happy Cags is back, that the effort is maximum and that we won a huge game, but to win more we will need to play better in my opinion.

@Mark, would you be so good as to lift my posting restriction? I'm highly inoffensive, you just happen to not like how I think.

Exactly! It’s been a difficult season and there will still be a few more knocks along the way - hopefully we come through those as well. However, the team did something it has struggled to do so many times this season, competed. I thought we were the most interesting going forward and defended competently - what more could anyone want.

How many posts are you allowed? If you don’t reply due to limited posts I understand

Much more assured with Cags back in the side. It’s obvious to see it was a personal issue from Rodgers. The way he’s been treated is abysmal.

We started well but after the mistake, we lost our heads for 15 minutes or so and it could have cost us. Pretty much playing 4-2-4 against that Wolves midfield was always going to make the midfield battle tricky. Getting the penalty got us back on track, and Smith rightly made a change at the break to give more of a foothold in the middle.

Second half, I thought we were the better side. Wolves didn’t carry much threat until

the latter stages, but it felt like the goal wasn’t going to come. It was a great move for the winner and a lovely finish. Soumare had a very good second half. Cags was excellent throughout, Iversen made another top save from the free kick.

The spirit is so much better. The management team clearly have had an impact on the side. It makes a nice change to have a manager living it on the touch line rather than the notepad and little claps. Early days, but Smith seems to fit the club and what the fans want to see. He comes across more down to earth and in touch, whereas Rodgers seemed much more ‘corporate’ and never had that sort of connection with the club/fan base. Renewed hope. Hopefully we can carry the confidence and energy from today into Tuesday night. Great to hear the KP rocking again

Imagine the reaction here is it was Ndidi and not Youri that gave that first goal away.

He would have been slaughtered.

Imagine if it was big Dan :nigel:

Seems like a little pop at Rodgers from our Timmy. :appl:

Iirc didn't he dig out Rodgers at the start of the season? Would have been dropped if JJ and Riccy were fit i think.

What really impressed me was our defending from set pieces, seemed way better.

I think it was better on the whole. The defence with cags in really didn't worry me too much today. Probably helps we have 2 defenders at the back now and a goal keeper that tries to stop the ball going in the net.

Massive credit should go to Cags for keeping himself at such a peak level of fitness despite being frozen out by Brendon.  The guy has just played two full games in 8 days when he has hardly kicked a ball in active play all season.

Given his contract is up shortly and if the rumours are to be believed his future club is already sorted, he could hardly have been criticised for coasting through training given that he was never likely to be selected again by Brendan

Ironic that Brendan threw him under the bus by saying he was nowhere near the level in training

Clearly Brendan got that wrong as well

Iversen, Soyunchu, Soumare, Daka, ihenacho, Mendy Praet all treated like crap by Rodgers at some point yet all looked superb today.how can anyone in right mind think Amartey is better then Soyunchu?
