Incredible that Brendan basically spent the last year telling us that Soyuncu was sh!t

In reality the only shite in our club was Brendan and his borefest fvcking tactics. Shame it took some fans and the board so long to realise what a fvcking fake he was.

He's come so close to destroying our great club and some of the players.

Even players that he wanted.

I seriously would not piss on the waste of space if he was on fire.

Hes a waste of oxygen.

Sounds like it’s as good as done (from a Turkish newspaper). Realistically, Atletico would be a pull even if we weren’t in a mess and needing a rebuild…unless we stay up and appoint someone ridiculous then I can’t see him staying

If we stay up you’d imagine deano would keep the job no?

I agree to an extent in terms of their ability. I just don't think they would have been as effective under the previous manager. They would have been shoehorned into a style of play where they are forced to play out from the back and take unnecessary risks on the ball passing out from the back,

 ...true!!!

I would have previously thought they were too similar to work as a pair and neither a “Steady Eddie” but it worked and their aggression and bite was superb as was the ability to bring the ball out and join in.
Also alertness, reading danger and snuffing things out, the amount of times I’ve been frustrated at Amartey for not reading that the ball was only ever going to one area in a break, the whole stadium can see it yet he’d cover the same turf that’s already covered by someone else and leave the runner unchallenged.
As they both have a tendency to dive in with challenges we may run a higher risk of a Red in the long run but that’s a consequence of what you benefit from when that early reading of the situation works out for you.

Collectively it was just the conceding of unnecessary set pieces around the edge of the box that was frustrating yesterday but that was generally from forward players trying to “help out” :frusty:. I mean Daka, what were you trying to….,

Definitely the bite and aggression and leadership we’ve been lacking at the back. I do wonder if Soyuncu had been a regular whether we’d be in this mess.

Of course not and if it weren't for a certain midget Schmeichel would probably still be here.

Back on topic though I love Soyuncü and pray he doesn't leave:fc:

The back 4 we played yesterday doesn’t play for a team sitting 17th. They are far from perfect but have enough about them to play at this level.

I tend to agree, but as others have said, Cags took Faes in particular to a new level and it’s a worry he’s not going to be around next season to keep on doing that.

Kristiansen is not a bad player, but also don’t think he’s at the level that we’ve experienced in the past few seasons from full backs.

This maybe a wild stab in the dark, but I’m guessing Brendan is off your Christmas card list……

Yep Rodgers had already done the damage, and no return

I wonder if we go back in for Potter ?
Although, if we win 5/6 of our remaining games, Smith will be offered it, surely.

Pretty sure that said in principle?

So it isn’t yet official and no signature on the dotted line etc.

Also @kiwiturk mentioned yesterday that it is being reported in Turkey that Cags had asked his agent to explore options for staying here

Rodgers did this to make his point about transfers. He wanted a massive rebuild, never got it and played players that aren’t good enough to prove a petty point.

If we go down it will be purely down to Brendan Rodgers pettiness.

The thing is, we don’t always get what we want.
Rodgers alienated players, threw others under the bus & refused to take the blame for literally anything. He seemed unwilling or unable to work with the squad (of which many he wanted).
The hierarchy should also take some blame for not acting sooner.

Oh, I agree. For Faes to be successful in this league he needs an experienced talented player next to him.

With Khristiansen. He’s so young and came into a seriously struggling side. I think a good preseason with a proper set of coaches will help him.

The cvnt has never been on it.

He fvcked up 2 top 4 finishes by playing Brendan ball. Personally never wanted him at our club.

It would be tough not to get it if he does keep us up.

That being said, we need to have a vision for where we want to be as club and what we want our identity to be (as we’ve lost our way on that). If Dean Smith fits that then great, but it shouldn’t just be a given if he keeps us up - we need to really consider what our next 5-7 years look like and align the club to that.

Yeah It’s been known for ages he was moving, there was never any talk of a contract said and then he was dropped for the last year he’s not going to suddenly decide he’d rather Leicester than Madrid because he played a couple of games

I disagree. Soyuncu was a level above, him and Soumare our MOTM and Soyuncu was dominant throughout. Faes was ok but not on the same level.

Sadly this is a worry for next season. Are Souttar and Faes good enough? Maybe, but Cags yesterday played like when he made team of the year. He’s had plenty of stinkers for us too, but one thing we can say with certainty is that at his best he was genuinely one of the best centre backs in the league. Somehow we did replace him, but we already sold his replacement!

At his best @StriderHiryu is one of our best posters.

Occasional stinker of course :P

He’s agreed terms elsewhere hasn’t he? My interpretation is that this is one last swan song to try and keep us up.

I loved his reaction to the crowd against Wolves. He was up for it, and the crowd gave him a good reception.

Possibly an unnecessary thread.

But just wanted to say I thought that was elite level centre half pairing today. As good a partnership as I have seen from any team, all season.

Faes turned his back on two occasions, the first was their goal. It's not like he has a pretty face to get damaged.

Hopefully the coaches will tackle him hard over this bad habit he has started.

Haha. Thought the same. Great poster he is but he's got this wrong. The complementary dovetail of Cags and Faes was outstanding

We shall see!

Faes didn't defend too cleverly after Youri gave the ball away. If that was Cags instead I feel like he would have attacked the ball and made himself a lot bigger, Faes and of retreated and backed off instead.

I'll happily be proved wrong if we continue winning games though!
