Last season they were above us for the whole campaign ?  Only finished 1 place clear in the end

You might be mixing them up with Villa. West Ham have been matching us not far off really in the last three years.

 

It is quite galling though that one bad season and the likes of Villa are swooping in for our players. Villa hadn't finished above us since 2014.

1. Moyes' WHU do a lot of good work on the counter and Barnes will thrive at that the same way Bowen has.

2. Lets be honest anyway, if Barnes goes there now and signs a 4 or 5 year contract, even if he only does 3 of that he'll be there longer than Moyes.

We should hold him unless a truly stupid offer comes in. He will tear up the championship, and it’s much more likely we bounce straight back with him than without him. Can always sell him next summer if we don’t bounce back.

Think we should try and get him to sign a contract extension and loan him for a season if none of the big teams come in for him.  

 

Surely better to have him back with us if we manage to bounce back (big if I know) then loose him for 30m now.

He's a one dimensional player who can't really do much but try to beat people with pace, so West Ham makes sense. That said, he generally contributes more when we're dominating the game so maybe he'd get along at one of the bigger clubs.

In the past four Premier League seasons, there have been just two English players to register at least 10 non-penalty goals and assists in each campaign. One of them is Harry Kane, the country’s all-time leading scorer. The other is Harvey Barnes.
 

We might be seen as desperate but 1 thing this board does well is squeeze every £ out of a buying club when they really want that player, I’m sure we will get our 40m+ for Harvey.

This is one of the great ironies of this particular relegation. Most teams lose 1 or 2 players, namely the only ones good enough to play at the level. 

 

We realistically will lose a player in every position (GK apart) which in itself, should mean you can't be relegated.

 

As I write, it's pretty clear that's the Danny Ward effect laid bare. I think he knocks 10 places off any team's position. If he was keeper for Pep at Man City, they'd finish 9th or 10th.

Hopefully we will get more but we definitely need to sell him and Maddison to balance the books. We can't afford to take this risk especially as there is a chance, and it is a good one, that we don't get promoted next season.
