Barnes

There are plenty of others that can go before Barnes, like Soumare, Preat, Mendy, Perez, Soy, Youri, Madders, Castange.

That will reduce the wage bill massively.

We need to keep Barnes and aim for an immediate return to the Prem

He's on a £25M contract

Do you fancy picking up his £100K weekly wage (70 + add ons)

We need to drain the crippling swamp

Lookman @ £15m signing on was a far better player and deal than Barnes.

Should have sold him post injury

They would have to take a wage cut I doubt they want to be here anyway esp now we are in the Championship.

Again, who is going to want to sign them though? We’re not going to have people knocking the door down to sign Soumare ffs

Barnes is on a long contract so we can kind of hold out for a decent fee especially if all the players have that relegation clause, Maddison everyone knows we have to sell. Newcastle have the money so if they want him then they should pay what he is worth. Just because we have been relegated, suddenly in all the media it seems to have knocked a load off the expected transfer fees. We need to come out balls swinging next season and get promoted at the first attempt. Burnley scored 87 goals and conceded 35. We have to be aiming at those kind of figures. Barnes would score for fun in the championship. If we get a proper offer then our current situation will no doubt mean that the board sell him but if Newcastle try and knock say 10-15m or even more from the expected transfer fee just because we have gone down then paying the 70k per week £3.64m less the relegation clause might just be worth the gamble for a season so we can play hard ball. I get the FFP argument but if we don't go straight back up it will be way worse.

As many goals as Barnes us scored this season , he plays most of the time like a headless chicken… no awareness of spaces/pockets to run into…

not a Brighton type player at all imo..

Actually this is what he is very good at. It's how he scores most of his goals. Like with the little give and go with Nacho yesterday. He needs players to play off because he can't seem to create chances for himself by beating his man one-on-one.

Nacho, Ricardo, Justin, Castagne, Faes, Ndiddi are the next rung down.  Then Preat and Soumane.  Hopefully another £100m there.

Ward and Vestegard are bottom of this list! - any takes please!

So £200m clear out plus the out of contract players gone.  I can see Hamza and Albrighton contributing next season.

we’ll be stuck with some bad apples but hopefully very few

Barnes and madders may have brought those fees without  relegation

the message from the club will probably be business as usual and we don’t need the money (but of course we do. Hence we will likely end up taking £75m max for the pair of them.
can’t see anyone taking JJ and Ricky until jan.  Faes will stay. I think we take around £100m in fees. if we can get more then we can spend that extra. Otherwise loans and Bosmans

Have to agree. His problem is he’s a poor dribbler and can’t beat his man. But in terms of finding pockets of space and his awareness of doing one-twos in and around the box he’s extremely good.

Remember an article a couple of months ago about what unusual player he was and how his stats were amongst the very best in the PL at give and goes but extremely poor when it came to take ons and beating his man

KDH season long loan to Luton. Just a guess.

KDH is on a long term contract no? We'd be insane to let him leave temp or perm.

Some of the squad just need to be told **** off, you got yourselves in to the Championship, if you want out of it you need to get promoted. We can't sell or loan out everyone.

Other than those out of contract, only people I'd entertain selling are Madders, Barnes, Castagne and Bouba.

well the plan would be to stop him handing in a transfer request and to help him keep progressing in a prem team ready for when we get promoted(!!) and to not have to pay his prem wages.  So it would be all for  selfish reasons.

He has 2 yrs left on his contract unsure if he has a relegation clause but realistically chances are he will be sold.

we have just posted £92m loss, in championship losses must not exceed 39m over 3 yrs and we will lose 2/3 commercial revs following relegation.

Depends how many teams are in for our players - we should only sell low if there is only one team in for a player.  Maddison  will attract offers, Barnes also.  Hopefully those will be sold for the right price.  as for Vestegard….

Anyone who doesn’t want to be part of the rebuild should go — it will be surprising which players believe they are too good for champs — I think KDH and JJ will seek a move….watch this space …..none of em are that important so they can all go for me and we start again …..not expecting an instant return as I think the damage runs deeper than a few transfers

No loans for first team players, either sold or stays.

We won't be turning down value bids for anyone.

It would totally serve our purpose to retain KDH but allow him to progress in the premier league  whilst earning a tidy little loan fee for him.

Keep or cash in, we shouldn't be holding onto players in the expectation we will be back this time next year. Cut your cloth accordingly.
