That’s honestly not true. I know there is a lot of doom and gloom around at the moment but we have a state of the art training ground and the squad we will have will be one of the most equipped in the Championship next season. As an example someone like Ruud Van Nistelerooy might look at what Vincent Kompany has done with Burnley and might quite fancy building his way up to a Premier League job. Managing in the Championship is a step up from the Eredivisie.

We need to appoint someone with experience of both the championship and premier league, I fear someone like Ruud will be more like a Philip Cocu type of manager than a Kompany.

He was the person I wanted originally after Rodgers as I thought he'd keep us up. He always wants overall control of the club and given what we've got in charge atm that might not be a bad thing. But If he doesn't get what he wants he can cause drama and be very divisive.

He wouldn't be my first choice anymore and if we weren't willing to meet his financial demands in the Premier I can't see us meeting them in the Championship. But we could do a lot worse and he can get promoted on a budget.

He'd only come if he was given assurances that the funds would be available to push for an immediate return to the PL. There's no way he'd agree to it if he thought we'd be kicking around in the Championship for a few years. So if those who claim we don't have a pot to piss in are correct, there's no a chance of him coming here.

Ridiculous take and didn't need a new thread. We need a young, hungry manager to rebuild us, not an old has been that will want a fortune in wages and transfer/wage budget.

I think he may well have kept us up by tightening the defence up, there no point thinking about that. I can see the logic in that he got Newcastle up, but I’m also hesitant because of the style he played there. Also does he have experience of a rebuild on the scale that’s going to happen with us?

It will be fascinating to see who gets appointed.

I know Rafa would be a safe pair of hands but I just hate his football with a passion, I’d rather take the gamble on Jaissle or someone who is going to play attacking, pressing football and give us some excitement.

He’s by far the best manager for us.

Get it done Top give him want he wants.

No! He's not a great manager at all.

The football any of his sides have played recently is horrendous to watch.

Just weird how there is much more interest in Rafa from fans now than there was after we had just binned Rodgers

Isn't that obvious why though? Our situation has changed massively from the day Rodgers went to right now.

I'm only in favour because I'm afraid of Russell Martin, he's a Premier League manager and we're a Championship club, and I currently trust his decision making more than Rudkin and Top's decision making. I'm hoping events in the next week change my opinion on that last point.

Our situation was we needed a manager and it was very possible we would be playing in either of two divisions. There wasn't much interest in him for either. Plus I felt the lack of interest was more down to the style of football more than he couldn't do a job in the PL but would in the EFL

Here’s my problem with this type of appointment which I’ve already laid out in another thread.

-Would command huge wages.
-If he doesn’t get us promoted his reputation will not be affected given he is a big name who probably will still get thrown jobs in the future (eg look at Big Sam).

-If he doesn’t get us promoted he will still get his pay off whereas we would be back to square one next year.

-Do we really trust him to oversee a rebuild? We’ll likely end up with a bunch of has beens like Rondon and have another rebuild to do.

I'll have what you're drinking.

Kompany's reputation was nowhere near as high as RVN's. He'll be looking at decent top flight clubs getting European competition.

Even if managing in the Championship was a step up from managing PSV, which it isn't, he left PSV to find a club that could match his ambitions he's not then going to sign for us.

I don’t think it’s too unrealistic and it also gives him an opportunity to build his own team. He left due to Gakpo and Madueke being sold when they were pushing for the league title which is what he meant by lack of ambition.

As someone else already mentioned he left because when wanting to push for the league, PSV sold 2 of his best players in Madueke and Gakpo. Belgian and Dutch football is really the pits outside of the “top clubs”. Despite Leicester fans knowing we are a shambles at the minute, externally the view of our club is still that we are successful and shouldn’t have been relegated last season. If you take off the blue glasses and take a look at the club, why wouldn’t you want to come here? We just need a bit of leadership to instil a club identity but all the necessary tools are here to be successful.

No. I’m bored. I’ve been bored for years watching this team. Appoint someone younger and exciting. Someone who plays attacking football. Fed up of being bored more than anything else.
