The main reason we are in the relegation zone. Probably the worst player regularly selected in this season’s Premier League. Utterly abject.

Its the same problem foxes talk has had for years, constantly blaming the defender involved directly before an opponent scores.

Luckily managers tend to be more sensible.

Ok so we have got it out of you, that you unfairly judge players that are the last one's involved before a goal.

He has had a good season so far, I will call it I think many on here are a bad judge of players and performances, there is an obsession with blaming players for goals conceded and then overlooking every other aspect of their game, then the old human bias confirmation kicks in where everything good is ignored and everything bad is blown up to confirm the original opinion, which is why we see so many posts so often claiming players need to go but they still get picked.

Ricardo not being played is a stick to beat Cooper with, so they have to convince themselves his replacement is dreadful.

He's been a solid 7/10 all season.

Ahh this was a fun night back in October, debating with these views

Criminal defending for Gakpo’s game changing goal - hanging a leg and allowing him to come back on his right foot. Gakpo was only ever going to come back inside. His performance in the rest of the game was irrelevant after such lazy bit of defending.

Gakpo has just openly admitted he was surprised how often he was allowed inside on his right foot and how much space he was given.

Shocking game management from Justin as always but RVN used to be Gakpos manager and surely would have been instructing Justin to not allow this?

He said too he was surprised how many options he always had, which would be on the whole team, not just Justin.

You’re right though, surely RVN or any of the staff who provided his match report pointed it out.

he had a decent game overall but was a ghost in that tackle for the first goal

And unfortunately poor and costly mistakes at critical times during matches will define his performance

Had a look to see if I've been harsh on him. Don't think I have, to be honest. His defensive output is actually better than I thought, but like @Kierzzsays, those stats hide those critical errors he seems to make quite literally every single week. If there was an 'errors leading to goals' metric, JJ's defensive stats would have some pretty essential context.

That middle third, essentially his passing and attacking stats.....those stats are absolutely damning. That's the area he's supposed to be decent at. Obviously the lack of quality in the team means he's often penned in and pushed back, but look at those passing percentages. Honking

About 60-70% of goals this season have come from his side or mistakes from him.

RB needed in January if we’ve got any hope of staying up.

The more matches I see, the more I think yes he is a problem, but he also seems way more isolated than Kristiansen on the opposite flank.

With a faster CB alongside him, he would surely get more cover and I don’t think the RW is helping as much as required.

Still pants, but not all of his doing I think.

He seems to struggle with changing direction quickly and a sharp burst of pace. He's a fraction behind at this level and gets massively found out. It's a shame because before his injury, he was superb.

I think we all know he's not good enough and extremely low on confidence, but right now we're in a position of not having anyone better and waiting for a transfer window in the vain hopes our board recognise we need a quality fullback only to sign another defensive midfielder.

No sense in hounding the guy, it doesn't help the situation and only goes to destroy him further.

The change of direction and burst of pace are unfortunately down to the injuries.

I still think he’s better under RVN, he was hung out to dry in the stupid system Cooper had

That's down to the system we've spent most of this season operating. That's not to excuse some of his mistakes. Can't be a coincidence though.

The blokes completely down on confidence but seemingly can't be replaced. A more confident JJ in a more balance team (a proper winger supporting him defensively) can perform better than this.

For now he needs bombing out of the squad.

Poor again today and needs a break out of team.

Pretty much nowhere for the first goal rebound.

Poor first touches and deliveries.

Almost no attempt to overlap and put a cross at any time.

Position setup for all wingers is wrong, gives them 10 yards space to start.

Quite clearly his confidence is affected and the lack of an alternative option has worked against him. That pass he gave back to Coady is just basic but he's messed that up. And trying audacious crosses like Alexander-Arnold does is just naive.

Needs a break out the team indeed. He's not offering anything worthwhile to the team currently.

Was this on around 70 something minutes? I saw this and realised at that moment that he’s totally gone. Needs removing for alls benefit

He just doesn't suit the wing back role. Struggles to be in the position he needs to be at both ends of the pitch.

But to be fair to him, the task he's asked to play is difficult

Agree. Felt for him today. Covered every blade of grass down that side, multiple times. But looks more athlete than footballer at the mo.
