..football supporters are fickle, it doesn't take much to turn them around!!!

The posters saying they were done with football and not looking to get a season ticket will all be the first in the queue. A few more signings and "Rudkin out" will be something that belongs in the past.

Two swallow a summer doesn't make.

However it would be one very happy sunday morning.

Other than seeing work being done it's nothing really.

We now have a manager and backroom staff and replaced two of the squad. Still a huge way to go with so much to do. Also that stupid Asia tour could wreck everything we've achieved by that time.

As for the bookies favourites. Just remember they make a living out of telling lies.

When city first got relegated, all pundits, radio shows, fans, were saying how difficult of a season we'd have this coming year in the championship. Now we've just made a couple of great signings, everyone's tone seems to have changed and now we're favorites to win it all. I was wondering what other LCFC fans thought of our chances this year?

We were favourites to win the Championship from the moment we got relegated - it hasn’t changed because of the new signings.

Still lots of work to do, addressed the issue of leadership yesterday with Coady, and Winks is aggressive off the ball and vocal.

Next steps...
Sort out a quality no 10

Address the goalkeeping situation.

Keep Justin and Ricardo and keep them fit.

Bring in a quality right winger or Barnes replacement if he goes.

If they do, we'll be Top 2, if they don't, somewhere towards sneaking into the play offs or falling away to 8th or 9th.

Exactly this.
People always post these threads far too early.

Like last season, where some (literally) predicted we’d finish in the top four and that we’d ‘definitely get more points than Newcastle’ etc.

Anything could happen in this transfer window. I’ll be making no predictions until much nearer the start of the season.

Some people look at that Blackburn game in the cup with horror. It was a truly shocking performance, our levels were nowhere near where they needed to be. Yet we only actually lost 2-1. Blackburn are one of the better teams in the league, an missed at least 2-3 good chances that night. We only need to improve about 10%-20% from that performance to pick up results. We won't be measuring ourselves at that level though after 9 years in the premiership, a manager that wants to be in the premiership, 2 players signed from the premiership, we will be looking to keep Premiership standards in the Championship.

I've no idea what our chances are but after recent seasons of apathy from the board and players, it feels like significant movement. A fresh start and reset.

The totally avoidable relegation, Brendan's BS, disinterested players and fan disillusionment.

With the appointment of Enzo, new backroom team and yesterday's signing are at least a reason to actually look forward to the season. It could be a complete disaster but it feels like we're actually responding to the situation and being proactive. Still with work to do but it feels like someone actually has a plan now and they're taking it seriously.

For the record we have been favourites to win it since we got relegated, before we signed anyone.

Personally I'm very pleased with the manager and the 2 new signings both are a serious statement of intent but It's going to be difficult to gel and hit the ground running with new tactics and possible 8 or 9 new signings. Starting the first game. Hopefully we stay in touch with the automatic places and have a mid to late season surge and end finishing 2nd.

In the 2022-23 season we got rid of our number 1 goalkeeper and best defender. In 2023-24 we got rid of our two top goal scorers. And the future is? It's anyone's guess.

As others have mentioned we've always been favourites so not sure about your point. It does feel a relief to finally get rid of the poison though.

Spot on.

But lets look at it this way.

Our manager is an unknown, at present we know nothing of his playing style, in-game management, tactical awareness, player management etc.

But he's not Rodgers, so that's a 1000% improvement from the get go.

Let's see how he handles pre-season.

Coady has replaced the departed Amartey (IMO apart from pace an upgrade all round)

Winks potentially has Youri's starting berth, and IMO the way Youri seemed to check out for most of last season and amble around the pitch looking half the player he was when he arrived,  so if Winks plays to his potential and stays fit, whilst not as technically gifted as Youri, he's still capable of pinging long passes and deft through balls for others to latch onto,  a skill / element of play our team lost with Youri taking the sideways step to Villa.. Winks is more then good enough for next season.

Remember we are in the championship, so the opposition is inferior to what we have recently faced.

With the squad we have left and likely to stay (KDH, Faes JJ etc) and by replacing any departing or departed player with someone who's say even 20% less gifted we should be there or there abouts.

We need a lot more players yet unless there's some gems being promoted from the youth team which is probably wishful thinking!

Big mindset shift needed. Too many players thought they were too good to dig in last season. That’s not going to be easy to change   Expect a few players to be sidelined early on if they don’t jump on board

I've honestly no idea what to think as yet. If we keep Barnes and get a RW then we have a squad with the potential to regain automatic promotion (sounds familiar that) but potential is all it is... Where are the goals going to come from? Vardy? Maybe. Daka? Nacho? hmm, maybe.

For me:

We need a striker.

We need a right winger.

We need a centrally creative rather than defensive minded player.

seriously expect us to be challenging for the play offs this season.  Whether we are good enough for automatic promotion will have to wait and see.  Southampton and dirty Leeds will be up there too along with stalwarts like Middlesborough, WBA, Sunderland, Watford also a surprise package in Ipswich.

With a few  more additions we will be  strong contenders, I like the clear out thats been done already with the backroom coaches plus signings of Coady and Winks is a good start.

Looking forward to the season, no var, no big club bias whats not to like.

Expectation is we get promoted straight back to the prem.

Reality, I think this is reality and I think Top will buy it. Expecting more decent signings, new GK, several new attacking players and a bloody good and fun season.

Supporting the club as much as possible this season. Will travel to as many games as possible and will buy some merchandise.

I'm really looking forward to this overhaul and refresh.

I think if we keep one of Daka or Nacho, sell the other bring in Yates, the change of those transfers pays for a right winger. We can do those 3 transfers for less than £20 mil after a striker sale.

With the amount of player churn, and a new coaching team installed, it's going to take a couple of months before we can assess how good the side will be. I'm certainly not going to assume that the likes of Thomas, Daka, Soumare, Faes etc are suddenly going to brush all opposition aside, but they may play a part if used correctly in a strengthened squad.

The opposition might be inferior but it's a different style to what these players/management have been used to. They probably won't know most of the the opposition players unlike in the cosy Premier League where they all rub shoulders on international duty and become besties whoever they play for. There's going to be some readjustment required and understanding of what we are up against. Some fans also need to be aware that we won't win every week.
