Bit of an odd topic but something that has bugged me for a while. Am I right in thinking that mobile phone data is blocked in and around the ground on match days or is it just me? I'm pretty sure every game I've been to over the years, even on different phone networks, mobile data is blocked. I can't even get Flashscore to load to can't check scores or anything.

I've always assumed it's a combination of being in a tin box and surrounded by 30000 other people all trying to use their phones. I've never noticed any problems outside the ground. Inside is impossible though.

Agree with this. It's definitely not blocked.

Yeah it's this. My phone (3) works fine during each half but I'm kidding myself if I think I'm getting any data at half time, in the concourse or (sometimes) pre-match.

My phone never works normally at the games - my mate told me it's to stop people from being on the phone to others to place quick bets when people score etc.

Cashed out my Nacho 1st goal scorer bet at Huddersfield when I saw the board being prepped lol

No blocking, but just overload of people accessing data in a small area.

Weirdly, could access Flashscore quicker than usual on Saturday compared to last season.

Especially at HT when people are generally on their phones.

I would hope they improve data access when in the concourses though. Terrible down there but understand the need to access data isn't high priority.

I noticed this!

Still slow but seemed quicker and easier in general tbh.

My son is with ID mobile, gets a fairly quick response to any data he tries to load.

I'm with O2, from around 14.15 on Saturdays inside the stadium until we get outside at full time it's nigh on impossible to get anything, even logging in to Sky or even FB if I need to is impossible.

Just down to everyone using else using up the signal space for that area at the same time I've always thought.

It’s certainly not blocked. Just too many people trying to use data.

We were one of the few stadiums in the Premier League that didn't have free Wifi. I find it so annoying, if you are trying to meet with friends and the like pre or post match it can be a nightmare. A lot of times I've had to walk down to Filbert Street just to get any reception!

Yes you can arrange to meet at specific locations, but I need my half time Foxes talk meltdowns viewable when I am at the stadium!

I'm with O2 and mine never works in the stadium or near it. It has worked in lots of much bigger stadiums, I ask for WiFi every time the club do a survey it works great in the Spurs stadium for NFL matches.

In fact this takes me on to one of the things that really still boils my piss about the relegation day. The club know that most fans don't have signal in the ground, but they were too chicken to actually put an announcement up on the scoreboard that we had been relegated or just the final scores from the other games which would obviously have confirmed that too. Just relying on word of mouth which had been spreading false rumours all day. Pathetic.

It’s actually been better since going down. Those massive vans that used to be in the car park won’t have helped. They weren’t there for Cardiff and my data in the Kop was significantly better. But I quite like being cut off from the world down the footeh. Only time I get peace and quiet

Worst network I’ve ever been on. Even worse than Three, and I didn’t think that was possible.

Used to make me laugh when they had signs up saying report specific behaviours on this sms short code. I doubt anyone ever got one to send

I think they block your phone if you’re from Coalville or its wider urban conurbation.I’m from Whitwick and mine never works.

The bloke a couple of seats down, however, seems to have no problem. I reckon he could stream porn-hub or even agricultural tractors without any issues.
