He's elected to miss AFCON to play for us, got sent off, and now returns the day before AFCON.

Outstanding.

Before the red he played in games he wouldn't have if he had gone to AFCON so...

The ref was right by not sending him off because he genuinely went for the ball. He got the ball but it was the follow through that won us the penalty. Double jeopardy doesn't apply if the player doesn't attempt to play the ball eg if he pulls the opposing player down.

But Double Jeopardy rule for DOGSO doesn't make a player invulnerable to a red for a dangerous tackle.

DOGSO situation:

  • Foul outside the box, attempting to play the ball or not attempting to play the ball = Red card
  • Foul inside the box, attempting to play the ball = Yellow card
  • Foul inside the box, not attempting to play the ball = Red card
  • Foul inside the box that is dangerous play = Red card

Oh - okay Les-TA-Jon. You've won.

How do I prostate myself for your smug superiority? Lashes? -100 rep points fine?

Baffled this is a 3 game ban, didn't touch the player/no injury caused, just a rash tackle in a local derby.

Just the rules mate when it's a straight red. Nothing out the ordinary.

He actually went under the players foot. Poor challenge and poor decision. Their player should have got a red for the challenge resulting in the penalty. Double jeopardy didn’t apply as the challenge was reckless and dangerous. On such decision do games swing.

One of them where we've seen suspensions reduced when it has been a straight red but not violent conduct etc.

Not sure I'm familiar, at least without appeal which we clearly didn't do as a club.

Take more care with his shooting and he will go places. Needs to make sure his first touch kills the ball when in a shooting position.

Other than that though it was great to have him back.

It must be tough facing mavidid and the pace of Daka up top and then to bring in fatawu just adds another level. I love his enthusiasm and total focus on trying to create or finding opportunities. He is a gem.
