AjcW Posted 1 September 2023 Posted 1 September 2023 Clearly being brought in as a long term JV replacement. I wonder if long term with this tactic, once he settles in, Casadei is meant to be the hold up/pass out to the wingers man, and the striker is free to do as they please. 3 at the back, 3 in midfield with the rb tucking in, Casadei in a roaming AM hole, wingers key to everything and the striker ready to pounce. 1
FLAN Posted 1 September 2023 Posted 1 September 2023 Everton season ticket colleague says he’s really good. So why aren’t they using him given how toothless they are? 1

Won't be long term if Casadei only stays a year

I would probably think its because he's too much of a risk to use in the prem and Everton are well in the shitter financially and need money. Don't see them raising much cash with the squad they have 1

Happy Fox Posted 1 September 2023 Posted 1 September 2023 Everton need the cash I don’t think they want to sell either him or Iwobi but they need the cash.
Bob Weasel Fox Posted 1 September 2023 Posted 1 September 2023 Anyone who suggests this lad isn't good enough is bang out of order . . .
Blanchflower78 Posted 1 September 2023 Posted 1 September 2023 Unfortunately unless you are the next Rooney, teenage strikers just don't get game time in the prem regardless of the teams fortunes. Even more so likely to be protective of them in that type of environment. He's very young, great youth record and scored nearly 1 in 2 games whilst in championship last season, our current level. On the basis players generally improve with age then question is does he have the immediate credentials to help the team and can those attributes be developed and bettered with time. If the answer is yes it's a no brainer

Dyche probably doing his best to protect him from that toxic waste. 1

I don't care what style of play Preston play, if 95% of other strikers have attempted more passes than you then you're probably not coming in to play the Iheanacho pseudo-10 role. For context, Patson Daka is in something like the 55th percentile. 5th is very much peak Jamie Vardy. Cameron Archer on loan at Preston, as a 20 year old (18 starts, eerily similar) was in the 19th percentile for passes attempted. 48th percentile last season. 1

Weren't Albrighton, Simpson and Huth all considered rejects or surplus to requirements when we signed them? 1

That's not exactly that same as expecting Cannon to go from 5th to 73rd (Iheanacho.) I mean come on man. I think we're going back and forth largely for the sakes of it here. I'm not criticising Cannon, I've actually become quite positive about this, I think he's a good move. But I don't care what the sample size is for the data or how Preston compare to us, there's no chance that we have the same expectations for TC that we do for Kel. This kid pretty obviously has more likeness to a Vardy/Daka and that is almost certainly why we value him. His passes attempted will almost certainly be higher this year by virtue of our dominance but I still expect we will be valuing his take-ons and his movement off the ball more (and a low key shout out for his defensive contributions.) Question for you, stats aside do you think a good coach can still get a 20 year old to learn new tricks? His stats above are playing for a VERY direct manager whose teams set up to concede barely any goals and hit teams on the break. Edited 1 September 2023 by AjcW

Maresca probably sees something entirely different in him. If that's the case, for the money and age he is it has to be worth a try, particularly if he's to run alongside initially with Vardy, Daka and Iheanacho. I doubt at least two of those will be here next season also. 1

STUHILL Posted 1 September 2023 Posted 1 September 2023 Happy with this! Perfect 3rd option striker behind Nacho and Vardy. Glad it is not a loan either, as he will really want to develop and push for starts here. Vardy the perfect mentor. 3
