That team had Mahrez and pre-peak Vardy, Huth, Wasilewski, Morgan, Drinkwater, Simpson, Cambiasso, Ulloa etc.

Like for like, age not included you’d take that crop of players now, over what we’ve got.

I'd take a good chunk of that squad over ours even at their current ages, to be fair.

Mahrez a no brainer. Huth/Morgan were never quick to begin with and our current CBs arent exactly blessed with pace (or strength, or aerial ability, or brains...).

What I'd give for Ulloa at the moment, big hardworking front man, good with his feet that can actually head the ball

£40m combined to be worse than literally 99% of the rest of the league.

that stat is as pointless as the "possession in the last 5 minutes" 1 that sky like to put up

also there are 20 teams in the premier league each with a 25 man playing squad (+under 21s) now thats 500(+) players ergo there must be 213(+) worse players than Phillips no :dunno:

Why Jose Mourinho picks Leicester City glory over Man United and Man City dynasties
The former Chelsea and Real Madrid boss, now in charge of Turkish side Fenerbahce, picked Claudio Ranieri when asked to decide between Sir Alex Ferguson and Pep Guardiola

Claudio Ranieri wins a battle between Sir Alex Ferguson and Pep Guardiola because of Leicester City’s incredible title, Jose Mourinho has said.

The former Chelsea and Real Madrid boss, now in charge of Fenerbahce, was asked to choose between the legendary Manchester United manager and the current Manchester City boss, but flipped the question.

While Ferguson (13) and Guardiola (six) have won the most Premier League titles, they do not compare to Ranieri’s single triumph with City in his eyes.

Asked on John Obi Mikel’s podcast to pick between Ferguson and Guardiola, Mourinho said: “It’s impossible to compare generations, impossible to compare the potential to do things.

“Both of them are historic in the Premier League. But for me, the historic one in the Premier League is Ranieri.

“Because winning with Leicester is something unique. To win four, five, six titles with Manchester United in that generation is great, but… To win five, six, seven titles with Man City in this generation is great, but…

“With Leicester, there is no but. For me it is the most incredible title I have lived through.”

Mourinho’s final game in charge of his second spell at Chelsea was a 2-1 defeat at the King Power Stadium during City’s run to the title.

Jamie Vardy and Riyad Mahrez scored to inflict a ninth defeat in 16 games on Mourinho, leaving his reigning champions just a point outside the relegation zone.

Mourinho often disparaged Ranieri during their title battle in Italy, when the Portuguese boss was in charge of Inter Milan and Ranieri was at Roma.

But since City’s title win, he has been a lot warmer towards the Italian and has routinely praised his work, especially with Leicester.

Jose doesn't really care about Ranieri and our achievement, this is him protecting his own reputation and trying to keep his name amongst the greats.

I'll be honest I didn't fact check it. I just saw it and it fit my agenda so I just posted it.

I actually think its an attempted dig at Hojland assuming 'Kieran' is a Man U fan from the profile pic

A lot of those players won't have made enough appearances - I assume the stat requires a certain percentage of minutes played.

Even now, that title winning season, coming off the back of the survival run from the previous season is something that will stay with me until I die.

The football played at the start was free flowing and beautiful but it left us a bit exposed with DeLaet  and  Schlupp bombing forwards down the wings, then Claudio changed things up to make us harder to score against, less pulsating at times but we would only need a goal from our lethal frontline.

To see us compete and sometimes take to the cleaners the best the league had to offer bar the Arse, was scintillating stuff and even the weird weather of the final game and all the Italians flooding the streets, amazing stuff.

If I’ve learnt one thing from the Great Escape, it’s that we’re guaranteed to win the league the season after. 15 or so more points Ruud and the 2025/26 title is in the bag! 🤩

Entirely correct though. Only option that might lead to us staying up is getting rid. He is not capable of inspiring or coaching a comeback.

Wow, that's pretty decent of him.

Not many decent footballers left out there, so fair play.

This is very cynical of me but maybe he thought it'd be deliberately misinterpreted by rage merchants on social media

Still a decent gesture either way though right?

Of course. But I think 10-15 years ago he might have thought about it all.

May be an image of 2 people, people playing football and text that says "acerns) JEFA CHAMPIONS LEAGUE TNT SPORTS ASTON VILLA 番 CHELSE Arsenal GOTNLLS OPINALICLN CLA COTEL ASTON VILLA 9TH ENGLISH CLUB TO REACH TH UCL QUARTER FINALS"

Of course, domestic football started in 1992 and European football started whenever we replaced the European Cup with this now bloated & rigged farce called the Champions League.

Celebrating reaching the quarter finals?! Give over, Villa are former winners!

A helicopter celebration is a bit weird anyway.

Now I’m confused

is it UCL or UCL and European cup

because if it’s the latter then Villa and Forest should already be included in the qtr finalists ??

and whilst your list of winners gives  a good feel, it’s not qtr finalists which would have way more teams in it
