FA Cup 2023/24

Loathe Liverpool but they really did a number on Arsenal.

Perennial bottlers, they just want to walk a goal in, must be SO frustrating to watch them🤣🤣

Havertz is utter shite!!!

Really dislike managers doing this. Comment is the usual ott football Twitter response, but the thought is right.

The fa cup is for all English teams, no matter their level, Prem teams would do well to remember that.

Especially the smaller sides who a handful of years ago would have relied on the cup takings.

There is an unbelievably simple solution. If both teams agree, then the fixture can be sorted on the day, without unanimous agreement it defaults to replays.

I get why the Arse aren't playing in red. But white instead? Don't they realise that blood consists of both red and white blood cells?!

I mean, people don't bleed white when they get stabbed though do they?

I do have some sympathy in regards to games being played when they are supposed to be on a 'break'. Not that I think they should have a winter break but if they are going to introduce it they should stick to it. No other time to play the replays though.

This must be one of the dullest FA Cup 3rd rounds in history. Not a single club from the top 2 divisions have been knocked out by a lower league club. Now relying on Wigan to beat Man U tomorrow night to change that!

I mean, a team in National League South beating a League One side is a proper giant killing.  Not every 3rd round has one of those.

Ironically within the rules of the FA Vase and Trophy but not the FA Cup

I keep seeing this mentioned as a solution, however, I’m not sure you can have a fair competition where there are different rules for different teams.

Simple solution in most cases is play your strongest team first time around, maybe some more attacking football and go for it, win the first game then you don’t need a replay.

Especially if you’re a team who is safe in the PL go and try and win something!

It would be unfair just for one serious reason. Example: Forest are forced now to a replay vs Blackpool. If there was a mutual agreement between these teams to sort the fixture on penalties on the day, it would be very unfair for Luton because they're both in a relegation battle and an extra game in the schedule means more pressure, more injuries chances etc.

If they don't want to risk a replay they can put the u18s out.

2 or 3 extra games are really not going to hamper any team unless they're in Europe, in which case they're likely gonna be playing squad players anyway.

As said above, it works fine in the Vase and Trophy, there's very little crying about it.

I get your point but we've got to take into account the financial aspect also. Home replays are huge for all teams not only the ones in lower leagues. FA cup replays are also beneficial for local businesses especially in hospitality. There are reasons the FA Cup is respected globally for decades. Why ruin again with "modern" rules a valuable product/tradition?

If 2-3 extra games are not a big issue why half of our fans were calling to drop our cup fixture by fielding a full 2nd-3d team? Imo this cup should be treated with full respect and all teams should field their best teams possible.
